Ok so i got a deal on some NCR18650PD batteries and also some CGR18650CH batteries.

The ones that i bought are flat tops ( though i think there are nippled tops out there ) but i didnt have the option at the time of the sale.

Since the Provari cannot do flattops i am using a battery magnet ( the battery magnet is as small as a battery nipple, So they are tiny.. Not some random/oversized magnet ) and with the magnet in place, The Provari works perfectly with each battery..

I had a few questions though.. I noticed that with either battery fully charged, No matter what, If i check the voltage using the Provari, It always reads 3.6 for each battery.. Though on my battery meter, They read correctly ( around 4.1 )

Anyone know the reason why the Provari is reading the voltage wrong on them?

Also, I have not ran either of these batteries a full day yet to see how long they last in my Provari but is there any harm that can be done to the Provari if using either of the 2?

I use both these batteries in my Mechs and they last MUCH longer then the standard AW IMR 18650s so i am hoping they last longer in my Provari also, Then using the standard AW IMRs ( which is the reason i am asking this )

Does or Has anyone used either of these 2 in a Provari? Your thoughts? any advice? Bad/Good idea?

Thanks

I started using NCR18650PD nipple tops a couple of weeks ago without any problems whatsoever. I suspect the magnet is interfering with the electronic circuits in the PV. This may explain the erroneous readings.

I may be misremembering, but I think Provape specifically mentions not to use magnets in Provaris.

Very bad idea...

:danger: First of all, using magnets on flat top batteries to make them work in a Provari will Void the Warranty with Provape. This is an unsafe battery practice and considered dangerous. Provape intentionally designed the Provari to accept only button top batteries to avoid the mistake of putting a battery in upside down.

You have now been warned. Please practice safe vaping habits. Li ion batteries are nothing to play around with. Why ruin a great $200 mod because of using the wrong batteries and void the warranty to boot?

The button top variety of the batteries you listed will work in the Provari, however Provape expressively recommends using only AW IMR. The grey PanasonicCH is a hybrid IMR and the green PanasonicPD is a high-drain/high-capacity hybrid.

Thanks SO much guys!

This is why i posted and asked this first before i went ahead and used them for a long period of time

This is also why i simply just put the battery in the Provari with the magnet for a few seconds simply to see if they worked and to test fire it and pulled them out. I did not want to use them all day or even for 5 minutes until i was certain it was ok.

Now that you guys have made it clear, I wont be using them and i will order some nipple top versions.

I do appreciate the advice and information on this!

Thanks

I apologize for my tone, please forgive me. There have been several of these threads of late, even one with a user wanting to run two 18650's in a Provari "because they fit and work"! But nothing seemed to make them see the light because "WE" hadn't designed the circuitry.
I do what I can, but I just can't fix stupid.

No need to apologize! When its something as important as battery safety then its best to be blunt and a little in your face about the information/responses so people take the replies seriously.

I know a lot of people do some pretty stupid things these days, Especially with batteries without any knowledge and it could end up with some pretty dangerous outcomes.. I can openly admit i am not 100% knowledgeable with batteries and at the level i am at with my vaping, I sure should spend less time reading reviews on mods and more time learning the tech/safety aspects of batteries and the dangers they can cause.

I am glad i posted about this before going ahead with something "that worked" and i am glad i got the responses that i got, Rather then the ' i dont know" response.

Thanks guys!

Moths fly out of my wallet when I open it. But I will still only ever use AW batteries in my Provari and I will only ever buy AW batteries from now on. The panasonic batteries are great in mechanical mods but I will always listen to a mod maker's recommendations. Have fun with your vaping journey!
