OK, what is going on?? E-liquid..

Okay, I have a few different flavors of e-liquids. I primarily use a medium vanilla from PureSmoker. It has been great since the day I got it (last week) all the way up till late last night.

When I went to smoke this morning, all of a sudden, the taste of the vanilla-filled vapor does not taste nearly as good as it always has. I tried dripping the atomizer, topping off the cart, same thing- just a very generic tasting e-liquid with almost no hint of the vanilla flavor. I opened two more regular filled carts and smoked them a few times (can't tell if the taste of those was off or not) and then topped them off with vanilla liquid, same thing happened...no good vanilla taste. I then tried tons of different combos of new atomizers, batteries, and carts with the vanilla liquid topped off and it didn't seem to matter and the taste remained- so I ruled out the pieces of the e-cig themselves.

Come to think of it, I don't think the liquid even smells the same in the bottle as before, although I could be imagining it. I can't figure out what's wrong or what changed since every other time I used it. I store them in a dark spot but I don't think that matters.

Could this stuff go bad overnight?? I don't think my taste buds are off because I taste foods just fine today-but I'm not sure. I've been trying to drip coffee and RY4 too a few times but for some reason I can't decide if they taste normal or not either!! Also, I'm still getting plenty of vapor when I puff.

Any ideas?? I'm like panicking here.

its your taste buds that have changed.. i would guess.. not the liquid.. built up a tolerance or some such thing to whatever chemicals tickled your taste buds in the first place..

just a guess but i think the change is more likely in u than the liquid.. we are talking unknowns here..

It's possible. I took more casual puffs before bed last night than usual..a lot..so maybe that affected my taste?
I just took a squeezed all the juice out of a cart filler and syringed any liquid out of the cart, replaced the filler and then dripped several drops of RY4 on it. I think it tastes how it used to when I first was smoking RY4, but I keep psyching myself out and can't really decide if it's different or not. It's the weirdest thing.
Do you veterans' taste buds get so used to the flavors that you barely taste the good unique flavors after a while and taste more of just the generic e-cig taste that has always been in the background no matter what flavor you use?
That's what I am feeling like..

you know, speaking from personal experience, i left the cap open (by accident of course) overnight and the flavor was strongly diminished in the morning. i think the chemicals in the e-liquid react with the oxygen in the air and turn into a new substance. maybe that is why you lost the original flavor?

hm I haven't kept the cap off for very long ever, plus I think I might be tasting this coffee flavor like it is supposed to taste (I THINK), so maybe it's just the vanilla one or maybe I'm just losing my mind (or my taste buds)...

Here's two questions that might answer some things for me: How many times can you re-top off a used cart before the cart loses it ability to work the way it's supposed to? Or is it always gonna work as long as that filler's in there since it never seems to change?

And how long does it take 2 drips in the atomizer to no longer be there? Immediately after a few puffs or after several puffs? When it has diminished, will the vapor not show up at all anymore?

the wire wool in the atomizer holds about 5 drops.. this is the factory prime.. the cart keeps this topped up..

two or three drops equals about a real cig possibly two.. the five drop prime cease to work when a couple of drops is removed.. u cant remove it all..

so if u didnt use a cart.. two drops into the atomizer every so often would keep it all going..

how many times can u top off a cart.. a couple of days worth i would say but the "thicker" part of the liquid seem to built up (stay behind) in the cart.. this kinda makes it not take or give up top up liquid.. when it gets so as the top up is only two or so drips i change the cart or at least the woolly stuff..

Whew! Thank goodness I am not going crazy!! I understand your panic trust me! This morning and all day today I have been wondering the same thing...my menthol liquid is giving me the weirdest taste. I thought it was possibly the autoclean had come on when I didn't notice it. So I switched to a different pen and still the liquid just didn't taste right. All day I have been doing all I can to get it to taste like it used to. I even cleaned the fiber and put new liquid in the cart and still it does not taste like it used to. This sucks!

just, Where did you get the liquid that you are using? (wondering if it has to do with that)

Okay well at least someone else has a similar issue. Mine is ongoing by the way...no real positive change so far even with other flavors..I'm so bewildered...
Did you try other flavors yet??

Like I said above, my original liquid was medium strength Vanilla from PureSmoker.com. I have been trying medium strength coffee from Janty today now to see what happens, and I feel that even this one isn't tasting the way it did days ago!! Omg this is depressing. It's like the opposite happened to me where I liked the taste at first more and now I like it less, whereas most people are the other way around. What the *(*%!
I swear, almost all I taste is that generic, common-to-all liquids background taste and barely the actual flavor. I swear, every day before today though I smoked all the different flavors I have and they were great and easy-to-taste!

Same here about the generic taste...I don't understand it. Well it must not be the liquid because I'm using Jane's menthol and Janty's RY4. These two have been my fav's. They just aren't doing much today. I have no idea what is going on. The menthol is not as minty as it has been; I have very little taste. I'm stumped...

Yeah so now the vanilla from PureSmoker and the Janty RY4 aren't tasting any different than each other, nor good! I just don't get it.
The only flavor that I have that's giving me any kind of taste other than this generic e-cig taste is the Janty coffee...but barely!! It's literally making me nauseous puffing so much to get the tastes bc of that common e-cig taste, although it was the same story even when I wasn't trying it so many times. OMG wtf?

I just ordered Apple from Janty and if that is the same case, then I'm screwed!

Ahh jesus dude! This is getting worse and worse. I tried everything, switched atomizers again, cleaned atomizers, switched batteries, tried a new cart, topped off the cart after some puffs, tried all 4 flavors of liquids I have...
All I'm getting is a slightly burnt taste (some times are worse than others) mixed with that e-cigarette taste and almost no or no flavor at all. I mean, if I've tried numerous liquids, numerous parts, numerous cartridges, and numerous smoking techniques even after not smoking for a while, and it's still the same, then I honestly don't know what else to do. Obviously it shouldn't be my taste buds because there are people on here who have been smoking these things for over a year and they still taste the flavors no problem.
I just spent a bit of money on all these starter supplies and this is just scaring me now. This was fine 2 days ago for a week straight, and now it's completely shot. Can anyone give me options to try???

hi, dont know if i can help with any advice...but i had the same expirience with a test of e-liquid. i would not be so sure that its not a taste buds ... i think it ha to do something with it..maybe its personal and some people have no such effect.. so, when i am loosing the test i try to swich for very different test liquid.. or ones i didnot use ecig for few days and test was back
pc. and funny..i have the same with janty coffe-thats only flavore which i feel for longest time .-) and thats why i like it ,-)

The same thing happens to me and the only cure i have found is to stop e-smoking for a day or so and my taste returns. when it happens i can't e smoke as it tastes absolutely vile.

Funny thing is that my ruyan cigar is always ok

I noticed the same issues - some days all taste bad/wrong. For me it goes away though after 1-2 days. This happens even if I keep vaping or if I switch to smoking.

Today dripping is helping to get a little bit more taste. I'm sure this has to do with our taste buds but not sure why. Maybe it is something different we are drinking or eating? I have no idea but it is a little better today than yesterday. Not e-smoking or smoking an analog cig is not an option for me.

it just might be your tastebuds i never ran into anything like that before. janes mint is strong and the ry4 well is just plain good. i would give it a day maybe rinse your mouth with salt water to kinda clean it out then give it a try again. i know salt sounds weird but trust me it works great makes alot of saliva etc... gets the mouth clean and taste buds back again. give that a try

Ok so I think I've come to a conclusion about my problem.

Two things: I think the vanilla liquid just lost some flavor either from being open or from sitting in the bottle or from whatever...and it kinda doesn't have much of a unique vanilla taste anymore. The reason the vanilla and RY4 don't taste different to me anymore is again because I think the vanilla just lost some of its flavor and matches more of the RY4 flavor (that's what I speculate) which is more of a generic tobacco taste. How the vanilla became more bland tasting than it was...again, I'm not sure.

That, I think combined with my taste buds basically getting too used to the unique flavors as well as the e-cig common flavor when I smoke a lot (which is usually when I'm trying to figure out this problem!) is causing this problem I would assume. The flavors kind of mix together and taste blahh after getting that vapor in your mouth too many times, at least for me.
Like today, I smoked for the first time this afternoon after not doing it since the night before, and I tried a regular PureSmoker cart that came with the kit and it tasted like it always used to to me- kind of vanilla-y, kinda plain. Then I squeezed out the liquid in that cart's filler and replaced it with all vanilla e-liquid from PureSmoker, and again it just tasted blahh with not much vanilla taste. But I think the Janty coffee one still tastes kinda like coffee to me (I hope).

All of this brings me to believe it is just the vanilla flavor- maybe I'm just not as big a fan of it as I thought..or it changed in taste- mixed with my taste buds just going useless after a while as far as this stuff goes.
How bout you, Tumbleweed? Anything new with your situation??
