Not really a matter of who knows more, just what's been tried and true. Just about anything that can go wrong or rite has happened, folks on forums from all over the globe are bound to have had experiences with the good and bad in just about everything. Listening to advice and then deciding what's fact is the part that's hard for some folks to decipher. A logical approach is to follow the direction of many stating the same thing. What I know about anodizing is because I have 15 years exp doing it. I build RC parts, Flashlights motorcycle and gun parts and electrical devices from metals I anodize. The proper way to make a threaded anodized part is to size the part for the threads including the layer of oxide in the measurements cut the part anodize and then rechase the threads to clean off the oxide layer. This isn't the fast way to do it though so many do not do it that way its easier and faster to cut the part and throw it in the anodize tank and let the customer deal with any issues with the thread connections. China is a huge offender though not all, I have gotten some very good quality flashlight housings from there. just depends what and who.

very true, well, i have a little breakthrough. after some more research, (and since im not to worried about ....ing it up, since it barely worked anyways) i took some hydrochloric acid and a scotchbrite pad to the threads and cleaned some of it off, it still gets warm, but not hot, and it fires much better, not that the metal is starting to show through

you just got confirmation that you are on the right track, keep cleaning the threads until the metal is exposed and you'll be set

No problem... pm me for my address. ;-)

Tell ya' what... I'll make you a deal. You go out and spend $30 bucks minimum on a DMM, post the receipt... and you can send me your mod, I'll fix it and send it back... and all you pay for is shipping both ways.
THIS!!! An awesome post and incredibly generous offer.

Alright, so this process is working, but its taking quite a while, and its kind of messy, i dont want to rub the black off the outside, im using a bathroom cleaner with hydrochloric acid, is there a better chemical to use, something thatll strip the coating off the threads a little easier?

paint thinner?
