old atlantis coils vs new

after a lot of reading and time i seem to have come to the conclusion that the only way to distinguish the old atlantis coils from the new ones without taking them apart is by looking at the foil packaging.

from what i've heard, the new cotton coils have a warning of letting the wick soak before firing, while the old coils had nothing more than the aspire logo on the foil packaging.

can anyone confirm or deny this as a reliable way to distinguish the two types of coils?

I don't have experience with old vs. new sorry, but I'd highly recommend just stripping the coil clean of that cheap/bad material, and just re-building it yourself with 24 gauge kanthal and organic cotton.

just curious to know if this is a reliable way to tell the difference because i'm not experienced with rebuilding and i REALLY don't like what i hear concerning the health hazards of using the old style atlantis coils : /

the coil i have atm has the warning on it, so according to what a rep at aspire told me on the phone it is a new coil. i have a hard time believing them after this whole thing though : /

would really appreciate if anyone with either a pack of old or new coils could just let me know which ones they have and exactly what the foil packaging does look like.

I have a pack of coils that are about a month old. The only thing it says on the foil is "Aspire" in big black letters.

thanks for the reply. do you happen to know if the coils in that package are the coils with the ceramic paper or if they are the new cotton coils?

I have a set of both. Already dissected a new cotton one to confirm they were all cotton, just didn't think to look at the foil. Will be home in 3 hours, can confirm it then if no one else does before.

Same thing on the foil on the old and the new all cotton. I can't see any way at all to differentiate. But I have taken one apart and it seemed to be all cotton, rub it in your fingers and it acts like cotton not crumbling apart like the old stuff.
