Old atty working (much) better than a new one?

I switched to a new atty recently. The first two hits give a LOT of vapor, but then almost nothing after that. The atty that I'm using now, the old one, about 2 months old at the moment, produces a little thinner vapor, but does so consistently for a lot longer, and by a lot, I mean for about 10 extra drags on 2 drops.

Is this normal?

Sometimes it takes a little while to break in a new atty give it a day or two and it may smoke like a chimney. Did you try blowing out the new atty? I actually had an atty that was a month old but not giving good hits anymore. I cleaned it and it took a while but now its working like a smoke stack.

I definitely had one of two 510 atty's slightly weaker than the other. And yeah, I used it heavily for two weeks. Not much of an improvement. It also went dead a lot faster (the third week) than the previous which was still working 60%ish for 5 weeks. I went back to the 5 week old, gave it a good alcohol rinse and compressed air to get it out/dry. Filled it up and it kicked almost good as new. I had never done any maintenance besides the occasionally blowing out for flavor changes.

I have been using that 510 atty since, and it is still working at about 75%. I started using it 10/28 and almost every day minus those 3 weeks with the other.

Try cleaning your old one and you might get some more performance out of it. The following always brings my atty's back after a cleaning:

1. Start with completely dry atomizer.
2. Fill fresh cart completely, and two drops on the atty.
3. Take one drag, it will produce no vapor.
4. Take off the cart (should be bone dry) refill and two more on the atty.
5. Take another drag. At this point it will either still be dry (one more drop on each), or gurgle.
6. Get it gurgling and keep hitting it. You want it at the verge of flooding.

After that you just keep smoking it until it isn't gurgling anymore, and the vapor production should be really kicking at that point. Takes a ton of juice but it works every time for me, and seems to be the fastest way to get the capillary action of the cartridge+bridge+coil working again.

Hope this helps.

I definitely gave it a few days to break in already, seemed to go in reverse a little bit. I have no complaints about the initial vapor, but after 2 hits, it goes to worse than my old one. Maybe i need to break it in a little more, who knows? But at least I know my "old" one is still kickin, a little weak, but still kickin.

Are you using filler in your cart or not. Have you tryed a couple of drops of juice on the bridge? It kinda sounds like what my 901 likes to do which is why I switched to a 510. Anyways if it doesnt improve in the next day I would think it is a bad atty and talk to the vendor.

I'm dripping, exclusively. And thanks for the advice Daedalus, I'll give my atty's a good blow out and try to adapt the rest to my habits. I mean, the new atty seems good, and I haven't really used it as much since I have to be on my passthrough to vape right now (lost PCC, canceled debit card, waiting to go back to school) so it could be that I just haven't broken it in enough, or my passthrough is on the verge of dying (do they do that?) and can't power it enough to break it in properly.
