So, I received my Old Goat bottom feeder the other day (I'd say last Wednesday or so) and it's been great. Bit of a learning curve so far as how much and when to squonk (love that word) but I think I'm finally getting the hang of it. Works beautifully with a Boge carto, and it lasts me more than a day before I have to fill it again. To quote, or at least paraphrase, a deeply beloved movie franchise: "She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts."

I have found one drawback, and that's more attributable to my lack of forethought than anything else. I work as a landscaper, and I had my mod in my pocket so I could grab a quick vape here and there while raking out a bunch of mulch. Long story short, I'm doing my thing, when all of a sudden I smell my e-juice drifting up out of my pocket.

Fearing that it had leaked somehow, I pull my mod out, and find out that all of my raking activity must've tripped the on-off switch and the thing was pocket-firing for a while. The carto was almost too hot to touch, and smelled like a mixture of my GR Burley and burnt plastic. Eccccch. It still fired; I could hear the coil heating something up in there, but there was no way I was vaping burnt filler. So, I have now officially killed my first carto.

From this experience, I have learned a valuable lesson: either take the battery out while working, or leave it at home and take an eGo instead.

Still, all-in-all, I'm enjoying the bottom-feeding experience so far. Now I shall have to focus my efforts on acquiring a Reo, right after I stock up on juice and start dabbling in some DIY. And get my hands on more cartos. And try out some tank systems.

Siiiiigh. Might be a while then.

Yup, it happens. I had a similar experience with my GG Stealth and a BDV tank with 1.7 ohm carto. Stuffed the Stealth in my jacket pocket at a restaurant and somewhere between pre-dinner drinks the Stealth button got activated in my pocket. Didn't notice anything until after dinner when I went to put my jacket on and found an extremely warm pocket with a totally dead Stealth, a completely empty tank, and a piece of plastic that once was a drip tip! I couldn't smell it burning because we were dining in a Fondue restaurant and all you can smell is varying degrees of cooking meat! I was sure I turned the locking ring on the Stealth firing button to prevent the pin from firing, but obviously not. It was a loooooooong drive home to say the least!

I thought the old goat has a master on off switch. I guess not :)

What does the Canadian Penal code state is the maximum penalty for 2nd degree Carto Murder? Maybe you could plea bargain it down to cart slaughter? Either way get a good lawyer -- any Canadian supplier should be able to hook you up :p

That's why my REO mini is my barn/riding mod. It will fit in my front jeans pocket and has never "pocket fired" even without turning it off. I do use cartos when I do this so I never get leaking juice either.

The master on/off switch on the reo is so slickly implemented that I like to turn my wife's REO Grand off when she isn't looking. Great fun!

It does; just one of your standard slider switches. I figure it must've snagged on something while I was working.

I think it's a mandatory 15 to 20...

When I'm worried about accidental firing, I've been giving the atty/carto a half turn to break the connection.
This might help sometimes, maybe not a hundred percent though,,

This is a great idea. Another option is a lanyard. Do not underestimate the power of the lanyard. Or even rig up something with with a carabiner and attach it to your belt or belt loop.

A lanyard does tempt me for when the weather gets hotter and I'm wearing things with less pockets.
I'm still a bit shy about letting my "stuff" hang out for all to see. I need to get over that.
