I love my 'old goat' mod, but I'm confused about this policy. Was the purchaser of the mod that melted down told what kind of batteries to buy? If not- I think he's entitled to some kind of consideration. I have protected batteries, but not because anyone told me to get them- I just happened to have gotten two of them from one of those 'mystery bags' that I ordered...
Yes on the website it states what type of battery each mod uses 14500 protected battery, 14250 protected battery, 18650 protected battery, they are all protected. I placed the post so everyone knows how important it is to use protected batteries.
There is only one exception and that is the big 3.7 volt..it can use cr123 unprotected batteries for a 6 volt vape, but that is at your own risk...I vape 6 volts with it, but you need to be aware of what can happen.
We did offer to make a new mod for this customer at a discounted price. We always try to make things right with our customers and will continue to do so.
Thanks Old Goat Mods
We had a problem with a mod melting down due to the use of unprotected batteries...I would like everyone to know that protected batteries not only protect you, but also the mod if a short occurs.
Our policy is not to replace a mod that has damage due to the use of unprotected batteries or battery. If you use unprotected batteries it is at your own risk and I do not recommend the use of unprotected batteries at any time.
Old Goat Mods
Hi Ron, did mine make it yesterday?
yes and it is done and going to be shipped out today
In This statement Oldgoat said that there is a short in my mod, that is the problem that I have.
He even admits that there was a short in my mod, and he won't make it right. All he offered was a discount on a second mod. Not to fix the mod that he admitted had a short in it, not to replace the mod, and he said they never give refunds. I NEVER VAPED WITH THIS MOD BECAUSE IT WAS DEFECTIVE WHEN I RECEIVED IT!!

There are literally Dozens of OldGoats mod's in use. Why do all these customers use protected batteries? - Because it's all over the ECF forums and on OldGoats web site.
If I used unprotected batteries in a mod and it shorted, I sure as heck could not blame the mod or the builder.

Heres the customers side of the story.
I was never told of this policy. I already owned the unprotected batteries, I was going to order a REO Grand, but couldn't afford it. Most places on this forum suggest using aw imr 18650 batteries, they are what is known as a safe chemistry battery. I went in search of a mod to fit the batteries that I already owned. If I had been told of his policy, I would not have ordered the mod. Let me repeat that.
IF HE HAD TOLD ME OF THE POLICY I WOULD NOT HAVE ORDERED THE MOD FROM HIM!
I ordered on the 17th, and paid on the same day. I received the mod on the 29th, I put my battery in it, turned it on, I had a Boge cartomizer in it that I had been using with my ego, I pushed the button to VAPE, there was a short in the mod that caused the battery to drain too fast, and ot fried the mod. I immediately emailed Zach and told him what happened, and I was told of their "policy", I had never heard of it before, so let me repeat it one more time.
They sold me a big box mod for $70, I received the mod, there was a short in the mod, it is DOA, I emailed them, they told me tough! But we will give you a discount on a replacement mod!
Why would I give them good money after bad? They screwed me, why would I ask them to do it again?
That is what happened.
I have talked to some other people that make mods, and they told me that it sounds like a protected battery would have had the same outcome, but it would have taken longer then the immediate reaction that I encountered.
I have e mailed the mods on the forum to see if they can help out at all, and I was waiting for them to reply to ke before I said something. But I just wanted y'all to know my side of the story, before you handed them over another penny.
I am going to complain to pay pal and see if that will help me out, but I'm going to wait till I hear from the forum moderators before I talk to paypal.
