Somewhere out there
i remember way back in time when many of us washed out Cartos to keep them going longer. They actually made good DIY juice testers. Anyone contemplating that ? I was just looking at some used Cartos thinking hmmm, maybe I should wash them and keep them on hand just incase :) since they are hard to come by especially after 8-8-16 and I still enjoy a Carto from time to time.

I haven't done that in a long time but, back in the day I cleaned my fair share. Used a catheter tipped syringe and hot water to clean. Word of caution though. Be certain that you get them dried out very quickly. I found out the hard way that they will get specs of mold in them if they are left damp for any length of time.

Drying them in the oven on a very low temp may be a good idea :)

As I recall, there was a guy that converted a salad spinner, the kind with the push down handle. to dry carto's out back in the day. Don't remember all the details, not sure I care to, but I guess it worked?
I always washed them, blew them out and let them sit over night before filling again.

After I had the batch that molded, I would put my oven on the lowest setting. Place a batch of cartos on a cookie sheet and leave them in there with the oven on for about an hour. Turn the oven off and leave the cartos in the warm oven over night. Never had another problem.

I will add that I don't ever see myself going back to doing this. I am not a fan of making my own coils but, there are so many premade options out there now. I have tanks that use RBA decks that are super simple to attach the coil to.

I am stocked on extra decks for these tanks as well. Unless they all fail and I am not able to get more, I will not be washing cartos again. Ever. ;)

Oddly enough, I've moved to pretty much all RDA's of some sort myself, but 'Smilin (You know who I'm talking about) hit me up a week ago and wants to send me a kit! Gotta love the man for trying!

I still have a modfied top from a dead ego battery and the shoelace I threaded through it just in case I need to do another taryn spin. In the early days I just used a carto condom and have the dents in my basement walls and ceiling to show for it lol!

My spinner consisted of a piece of surgical tubing, which the cartos slid into very tightly, and a piece of string.
Boy! Those things really took off if they came out of the tubing.
