I'm waiting for my new cartos, but until then I have been forced to use old cartos. They tasted so horrible.

I always wondered if I could take it apart and clean the filler. In the past I have tried to take out the filler and it just ruined the entire cartomizer. There is a video online that shows you how to take off the top piece of a boge-like carto, so I decided to try it.

After taking apart the carto, I unwrapped the filler and washed it. The filler was so dirty and it looked so much better after I washed it. I then slowly dry burned the carto by pressing the button for less than second a few times.

I put it all together and it works!

has anyone ever tried this? I remember a while ago I tried boiling my cartos 5 times in a row and it never worked. It would be awesome if there was an easier way to take apart these things. Like have the top piece of the carto (not the endcap) screw off the base.

Cleaning and reusing something that costs less than a dollar...

I wouldn't clean a carto, just throw it away and buy some more.

Unfortunately where I buy them, I can only buy them in a pack of five and with shipping I pay ten dollars..
Plus, If I run out I'm screwed :(

For some reason I always feel bad for tossing out cartos. They may be junk until you "revive" them, but I have also been the person who saves their mason jars so I can use them as drinking cups. When I buy a jar of spaghetti sauce, I never throw away the jar. Like my spaghetti jars, I like to think I'm using my cartos at their full potential :D

Used cartos for a few days when I first started vaping this summer. Never really cleaned any, went straight to tanks/clearos/fluxos.

My wife likes the cartos so I'll clean hers like you suggested. Cool that it works!
:)

Yeah, It's a little tricky to be honest. I love tanks, I hope to one day buy a phiniac tank, but I get a little uncomfortable vaping in public with one of them. Honestly, I'm not a fan of cartos at all because the filler material is not pleasant in my past experiences. Now that I know how to clean them and have them working like the day I bought them definitely makes me like them more. :D

Cleaning cartos just seems like more work than it's worth. Refill them with similar flavored juice, throw them out when they get nasty. I treat cartos as basically disposable, go for clearos if you want something reusable. Or make old cartos into juice tasters/drippers if you want to use them for something

But... but... recycling.... global warming.... save the planet man. :vapor:

In a serious note. I remember I used to throw my cig butts all over the ground or in gigantic ashtrays. That was one of the reasons I'm happy I quit. Now I see an oppurtunity to not let something go to waste. It truly is remarkable how well a "revived" carto peforms. If it wasn't worth it I wouldn't make a thread. Try it at least once if you don't think it's worth it. :D

I'm not saying you have to do it and It's fine if you disagree, but I wasn't sure if anyone has done this before. When I started at ECF I remember there used to be threads of people trying to revive cartos and attys... maybe I'm just getting too old now :(

Cartos are designed to be disposable, but they only have slight variations of clearos and atomizers that are not labeled as disposables. It's basically a heating coil just like everything else.

I understand where you're coming from man. I certainly don't throw cartos away after one use, I just don't put much work into them. I'll refill them as many times as they can take, I just use similar flavors so I don't have to clean them. But I really don't like using cartos to begin with. I mainly use SI Nanos, I just keep a few cartos in my car for backups.

Wow... I didn't know Smokeless Image got new gear. I'll have to check those out. :D

I haven't gone on their site for such a long time. I might have to find my 510 adaptor so I try the SI Nanos.

I love my Nanos to death. They're perfect on the mini batteries, which is all I use right now. Fair warning though, if you do try them, make sure you put the cap on all the way after filling. I left one just a hair undertightened, and it leaked a full load of juice all over my desk by the time I came back.
