My problem seems to be somewhat related to this thread so I'll post here instead of starting a new thread. I have an SB that I bought new a few months ago. Recently I got an Omega in a trade. It hasn't been abused and looks like new. The problem is that it just doesn't hit as hard as the SB. Moving the same battery and atty between the two, there is a noticable difference in vapor production and TH. I've cleaned all the contacts and put Noalox on the threads. It still fires every time, but I'm used to the SB and its hard hitting vapor. I've been meaning to get down to New Philly again and was going to bring it in to see what the problem is, but I rarely go that far south.

So, my questions are does it need to be taken apart and cleaned? Or, is this just normal for an Omega? Any advice is appreciated.

This doesn't make sense. Same Atty and Battery in both, should result in the same vape. I would almost be tempted to put one of those digital meters to check the output at the omega connector with and without load. Can't remember the name of it, but I think Madvapes carries them.

I had one on my Omega, and it checked out perfectly. 3.9v with a almost fully charged battery without load, and 3.6 or so under load.

Yes it needs a good cleaning. The springs have a high copper content and will oxidize. Take a look at you copper pipes in your house :). I purchased several cans of deoxit gold and treat all the springs with it. This will keep them good for a long while, but they will still need a good cleaning every now and again.

Yeah, what Chad said. As part of my cleaning process, I usually very lightly rub the spring under the head unit against a very fine grain sandpaper (I think it's 1000 or 2000) until it looks bright again. If it's not conducting well, it's not transferring current over to the connector.

Worth a shot.

Ok, I finally found my allen wrenches and took my Omega apart. There was a bit of juice inside the head unit and one drop was between the floating contact pin and the atty connector. Once I cleaned it all up and put it back together it's hitting just as well as my SB. It took a bit of trial and error to get it back together correctly but the video helped immensely. Thanks for the advice and info.

Glad you got him back together okay. After you do it once or twice you can do it in your sleep :)
