V4L let me test the device before it was officially released. Will go over the good, the bad, and the one major concern of the device. As you can see from the picture on the site, this a box mod type variety of mod, with the firing button on the top opposite of the connector (808 native this time). On the side is a power button which also has a few other functions (will get into in a moment), and a plus and minus button for the voltage. 5 clicks of the power button in a row turns it on and off. One click will show you the ohms of the carto for a few seconds, then afterwards the voltage of the battery itself. The power button has a blue led behind it with three settings- off, low, high. To adjust simply hold the plus and minus buttons for a few seconds, and it will switch the setting to the next higher (0-1, 1-2, 2-0). Cut off time on mine was 12.3 seconds. This is a smart mod that will give you error codes on the led screen if the battery is low, under 3.4v to be exact (LO-V), If there's a short with the carto/atty (LO-V as well, but when you check your voltage on the battery if it's above 3.4v then it's the carto), and if it's too low an ohm's carto (LO-Ω). Amp limit is reported as 4a, this means a 4 amp range. The actual output on mine was 3.78a max, which is almost an amp higher than that of the OMG VV I tested. Just like with the OMG VV while it will say it's set to 6v, it may not be delivering 6v to the carto depending on it's ohms. With a 1.5ohm dc for example at 6v got 4.7v with it pulling 3.78a. With a 2.0ohm dc carto, got 5.2v at 3.76a. With the single coil 2.0ohm at 6v got 6.1v at 3.05a. So with the dual coils you're not going to get 6v, just whatever the maximum amount of voltage at the unit's personal amperage limit is. In essence we have-
The good-
While an 18650 mod, much smaller than most of the vv 18650 mods
Is far more accurate than the OMG VV, actual voltage output is .1+/- at full charge, and there's no drop off until the battery reaches under 3.5v. That's when you'll see it be -.2-.4 from the stated voltage
Because it gives an actual voltage readout of the battery, easy for a user to know when it's time to change.
4a limit was 3.78a on mine, which is well in range with all of the manufacturer's amp limits. In all of their mods I've tested the amperage limit is usually .3-.2 amps lower than the stated limit, 3.7-3.8a is nothing anyone will complain about.
Fire button is very responsive, as are the power and up and down buttons.
Vent hole on the side of the mod.
While it only has two air intake holes, because of their size draw the draw is still good. Would compare it to an vapor king ashcap manual. Not too airy, not too stiff.
Ohm reader is accurate to +/- .1ohms
The bad-
It's not the most durable of devices because it's made of plastic. One good drop on hard surface has potential to kill it. This is offset by the rubberized the coating on it along with the grip. Still it's not a mod you should throw around.
Biggest concern-
The weakest part of the mod is the battery door. Do not use the batteries for the OMG all day for this device, I had one that would fit but measured it before hand so knew it would. Anything longer than 67mm will damage the door. For now there are no replacement batts for it, but until V4L sells their own battery for a replacement, will answer any pm in regards as to where to get a replacement battery.
All in all, this is the best of the OMG line thus far for the higher voltage devices. The OMGAD is still the best for battery life and toughness, the Handle for more power.
