Yeah, Greensmoke is fairly notorious around here. There are a lot of companies trying to take advantage of this new E-cig thing by preying on the uninformed. Greensmoke isn't the worst -- I reserve my real venom for the "free trial" jerks -- but GS is definitely priced in the higher tier of "you paid what for what?" land.

I agree, thank goodness I happened up on ECF. I have learned so much and met some really great people.

My first was the njoy Npro and it was $57 for 2 batts, 1 atty and 5 carts filled with the most disgusting tobacco flavor. Well, IMO since I was a clove smoker.

Now I don't buy anything until I talk it over with my fellow vapers.

It's easy to be taken advantage of when you're trying something new; ecigs, computers, cell phones, televisions...shoot, even food!

When we were first looking and learning (only a week or two ago haha), the whole green vs blue vs white thing didn't feel right...it seemed like what we were looking for, but it all felt too easy and "consumer packaged" if that makes sense. While reading reviews they all sounded a bit too consistent, conforming like...cleaned up, edited. I think it was Doctor Vapor's vids on you tube that clarified how the parts are interchange-able and there were options beyond the green blue white sucker-bet. From there, it was only when I stopped searching for "e-cigarettes" / e-cig and searched "vaping" that the entire tone changed and we found the real deal. We're very thankful, therefore, to the Doc, Grimm Green and the ECF for helping us find our way so far and really learn. Thanks guys! As GG says: KoV!

It's a shame. If I had seen a kit like this I would have put it out of my mind as too expensive. I'm not sure if I would have thought, "Hmm, let me get on the internet and search for a cheaper option".

As it was, I bought a drug store e-cig, but I didn't get ripped off too badly. It was $29.99. The carto's are the rip off, but the cost wasn't enough to dissuade me from giving it a try. And since I actually enjoyed it, it spurred me to research more online and find the endless options available. The $40 I spent at the drug store was not fully wasted as it opened the door for me. The prices of these kits would not have done that.

Sit back, relax and have a vape, whew and yes companies are allowed to charge whatever they want, getting worked up about it isn't going to change that. The best we can do is get the word out and educated so as many people as possible will know they have options which hopefully will either A-Cause these companies to lower prices to compete or B-Drive them out of business because educated people will go elsewhere.

But I suspect there will always be companies charging inflated prices because there are people with the mindset you get what you pay for. I know several people that even after being educated to options truly believe that if they pay 3x what I paid for the same product theirs is 3x better. These people will always keep that market alive.

I wouldn't say these companies are 'villians'. They are taking advantage of people who likely don't know any better, and that's a reasonable business plan, really. Not the most honorable type of business practice, but not criminal or villainous, IMO.

My neighbor was the one who got me hooked up with the drug store e-cig, and after I researched more and cheaper options for cartos and refils, she wasn't really interested in what I'd found out (from what I could tell at least). She doesn't have any interest in refiling cartos and said that sounded like a PITA. That's fine. She's doing what works for her and she's okay with the prices, although they aren't nearly as high as the website the OP posted.

We have one rebrander in the US that charges over $100 for one battery (a slim ecig battery that should cost $12-15)

But besides the prices - regardless of price - do not buy any ecig if you don't know what model it really is. NONE of those companies selling slim ecigs created anything. All slim ecigs are made in China. SOme models are good and compatible. Some are good and incompatible. Some are crap, Some "name" rebranders also like tricks like selling cartridges that are somehow crippled for refilling (and these same companies usually do not sell blanks or juices - they don't want customers to know they can refill) and they often only offer automatic batteries (so if customers DO try to refill they may kill a battery and then need to buy another from the ripoff rebrander). And some customers get stranded totally when they buy something unidentifiable and then that one company is out of stock of cartridges for a month or more.

So don't buy anything unless you know what model it really is, whether it's a good and compatible model, what it should cost, and where else you can get supplies for it.

FYI - Greensmoke (KR808D-2 aka E9) is actually physically a good model (except for not offering manual batteries) but it's flaw is that it is the incompatible rebrander threading. Its near twin KR808D-1 is the popular threading model that is supported by 3rd party vendors for new kinds of cartomizers, adapters for atomizer (for testing juices), accessories.

UK - the vendor I recommend in the UK is liberty-flight.co.uk - that doesn't mean every model they carry is great so do your research. But their US shop is very popular and they sell things under their real names/numbers and give good information about them, not bs.

My first experience with vaping was from a mall kiosk (Smoking Everwhere brand) and was horribly expensive. I ended up paying something like 120 dollars for a kit and it was not good quality. It ended up breaking relatively quickly and I had lost the receipt so I was out 120 dollars. I toyed with disposables and such from the local truck stops and while they were ok the consistency wasn't there, I'd get one that lasted decent and the next wouldn't last a day. Saw a kit for $12.73 online (Kingsong brand) with free shipping and I thought might as well. It's only 5 dollars more then a disposable and came with a battery, charger and 5 prefilled carts. I figure if I can at least get through the carts included and most of the bottle of liquid I already had it'd be worthwhile. Was annoying waiting 2 weeks for the thing to come from china and the battery life sucks but I think I can make due for now, just has to sit on the charger more often between smokes. At some point I'll probably look for a more reasonably priced high quality kit and a passthrough and just keep this one around for a back up.
