I also started with Safecig, and then I bought a KGO and am very happy with it. I now also have the Provari V2 which is awesome. But I still use the KGO when I go out because I don't want to take my Provari out of the house (afraid of dropping it). I use the Vision eGo CE4+ Clearomizer DV Edition (newest ones) that I get from Discount Vapers. I got my KGO from Virgin Vapors for around $40. Virgin Vapors also has the best juice IMO.

You got to take that Provari with you.... It wants to ride in the car... Mine goes everywhere with me... You know what is great to carry it in? The small felt bags SuperT sells for $1.79... There work perfect with a Provari... The top of the drip tip is the only thing exposed.... Dont even need to remove it from the bag to fire............

KGO? So-so..... If you want to stop wasting money and not have to upgrade again why not just start off where you will end up anyway......Variable Voltage is where its at, might as well get a good one...A Provari..... Then you will know what vaping is really all about...

Riverboat, here's the problem I have with suggesting a variable device to a newbie: he gets a device that he can set to a variety of voltages. So what does he get to go with it? What addy, what carto, etc. The answer would probably be different for each voltage, right? So he has to buy a whole boatload of stuff to try to find the elusive "perfect vape". As a newbie myself, I much prefer to get comfortable with a single voltage before deciding if/when to move to multiple voltages.

A VV with a 3ohm boge tank is all one needs for that elusive "perfect vape". You can adjust the voltage on the full range using a 3 ohm, and the tank doesnt need to be topped off every 15 minutes....I dont see this "boatload of stuff to buy" you speak of. And whatever money is spent, is saved on not buying anaogs, not to mention....they are only spending money once in a larger amount, rather than buying every KR808/Ego known to man because they get poor advice. I have a VV also and I dont adjust voltages all day, I set it to where I like for the juice im using and thats where it stays...whats so difficult?

That's where the new Evo comes in. It has three setting, the ones that are closes to the sweet spot for most: 3.9 volts, 4.5 volts and 5.0 volts. Easy to use and allows the person to experiement once they have gotten comfortable with one power setting. I would suggest they start out with standard resistence cartos/attys (2.5 ohm - 3.0 ohm) at 4.5 and 5.0 volt setting, since that has been the sweet spot for a number of years and see how that works before getting LR or DCC attys/cartos:

Ok, I started vaping roughly three weeks ago and it's been surprisingly awesome (I was very skeptical). I went with the Safe Cig Micro as my original investment, which gets no love on this forum, but I'm honestly a fan for using it at bars (I'm young and like to kill my liver and lungs) because it looks/works like an analog. But the price/availability of the refills is forcing me to move towards a not so incognito setup to use in private/work and I need advice.

I'm looking at the KGO starter kit, roughly $60 shipped on various sites. Would this be a solid purchase and if not, please help me out with suggestions? Also, I find the thought of clearomizers extremely appealing. Which do you use on your KGO and what is your opinion?

I promise I have been stalking various posts with similar questions, but sometimes people get to technical and I get lost (ohms/various voltages/mods/etc.). I'm looking for a dumbed down response for someone new to the game and is currently being forced to buy another kit after less than a month of vaping. Also, I'm a menthol smoker, if that matters?

Thanks in advance!

Same here! And I'm a hard-core, long-term, heavily addicted smoker.
More like $40.00, not $60.00, BTW. Liked it so much I bought two and may buy a third. I use BOGE cartos, clearomizers and Resurrectors (my favourites.)
Worth every penny.

I know there are a lot of fans of the Provari on here so I thought I would just add my:2c:
I have a kgo and love it. Promised myself a reward when I make the 6 month mark and maybe I will try a vv then. That being said, maybe some of us need to be comfortable with driving any kind of stick shift vehicle before we jump behind the wheel of a Ferrari ( in my case it would have to be a Lamborghini);)

Hey there, I just got my kgo last week from hoosierecigs and love it- lasts all day and about 2.5 hrs to charge. Wish I hadn't waited so long. The ce4 clearomizers work great and come in diff colors. Was here in 2 days- I was impressed. I prefer the 2.1-2.4 ohm ones. The price was great too, go for it!
klynn
Where'd ya get those ce4 clearos? I been wantin to try some with my kgo but don't know where to go or what to get.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Wow, I really appreciate everyones advice and comments!

I ended up purchasing a KGO starter city from DarkCityVapors.com (they had the silver band and logoless design that I required) and also purchased two EGO Vision Clearomizers 2.1-2.4OHM, as I really like the warm hits the Safe Cig Micro provide (as the atomizer is in the carto).

You know what's funny, I started vaping to save money (and to avoid breathing through a hole in my neck), but within less than a month I have spent over $150 (2 different starter kits, refill carts, various juices, and shipping costs). I realize the original investment is large, but will be cheaper in the long run.

Thanks again everyone! I will report back once I give the new setup a few days of use and let you know if I end up with buyers remorse.

Good piece of info, I myself started with a Safecig Micro many mods ago. The Safecig Micro should have the same thread your kGo does, 510 that is, so you can buy standard resistance cartos on the cheap for the Micro, and still use them with the kGo when you're not at the bar.

That is indeed awesome news! I searched for the longest time trying to figure out the Safe Cig Micros thread (they don't state that information anywhere on their site/user manual) to do exactly what you suggested, but I didn't want to waste money buying cartos hoping they would fit. I ended up just buying juice and refilling the "official" disposables from Safe Cig. Thanks for the tip!

Not a problem! Someone was asking and everyone was kind of bashing the poor guy, and I thought it would be funny if it was something way common that nobody knew about. So I took mine out and looked at my 510 cartos, plugged one in and couldn't believe it. I seriously almost fell out of my chair laughing.

The 510 cartos are just a hair wider than the safecig micro cartos, body wise, but this is because it's actually a 306 carotmizer which is the same threading but slightly thinner.

Just wanted to report back and thank everyone for their opinions and links to their suggested products. I ended up purchasing the KGO starter kit from DarkCityVapors.com and Stardust Clearomizers from Hoosierecig.com. I've already purchased a number of sample packs from various sites and FINALLY found a good liquid mixture that satisfies.

I'm currently vaping 25% Johnson Creek Winter Blast and 75% Vapor Renu Menthol (16mg, Level 2, hit 60/40). This mix provides a hint of tobacco with a strong menthol punch. It's by no means my preferred analogue of Newport, but I'm starting to think that is a good thing. On my next order from Vapor Renu, I plan on going to Level 3 of Menthol, but as it currently stands I'm very satisfied.

Currently on my 2nd week of a cigarette free lifestyle and it hasn't been easy, but nothing worth doing ever is! I've been to bars with smokers, been wasted with smokers and been to social events with smokers, but I never had the urge to smoke. I just sit with my KGO vaping away, getting tons of questing stares from the uninformed and had a ton of people ask me about my KGO. I'm actually even planning on purchasing a few cheap drip tips to let people try it out while I'm out and about this weekend. My hope is to pick up chicks with my ecig as it is a conversation starter and I now don't smell like a dirty sox filled with Indian food. ;)

Thanks again to all that gave me advice and if you have any juice suggestions (tobacco/menthol blend preferably), I would love to hear it!

Congrats on 2 weeks and I'm glad you're happy with the Kgo. In regards to spending I was down $500 in the first month BUT had enough gear and juice to last the yr- 8 months in and still enough DIY for another 7 months. Yeah I HATED menthol but vets suggested I might like it and they were so right. I now buy menthol drops separately and add to my tobacco juices. Faves are RY4, DKTab and a Cdn brand, Jokesmoke. I also like Tobacco Absolute and Black Perique BUT vapers either LOVE or HATE them...I LOVE them.
Happy Vaping.
