On your Provari, do you prefer a sleeve, wrap, case or nothing?

It's thick leather and it's the leather is butted together on one side and stitched together so the raw part of the leather is in the inside. They are very sturdy. The bottom has an extra piece inserted so the bottom of the ProVari doesn't go all the way to the bottom. The bottom is opened so it's really a tube.

Thanks Susan!

Maybe in the Saloon so as not to be taking over Shellro's thread, but I'd appreciate it if someone could post a pic of the bottom. I found a piece of really pretty blue dyed leather and was thinking of making my own sleeve out of it. There should be plenty to play with. :)

I got the Satin Silver so I wouldnt have to worry about scratching it, so mine runs naked!!

If I get a colored one, it will probably run naked too, I paid for the color for a reason. :D
:toast:

YUP! I knew mine was going to get beat, smashed, used and abused, so I got the satin as well and left well enough alone!

Mine is nekkid, with the exception of some abrasive anti-slip adhesive backed stair tread material so I don't test the famous Provari drop invulnerability!

it will survive a 3' fall to driveway asphalt.. just minor nicks.. (not concerned about it now.. i call it character..haha).

as far as the OP's question.. i have a case and a cheap lineyard so i dont drop it again..

Oooh... that's an interesting idea... I have a pair of kidskin black leather pants I can't wear anymore but can't bear to throw out... making some sleeves out of it would be a great idea!!! How are you planning to sew the leather??

It's really going to depend on the weight of the leather, which I won't be sure of until it gets here next week.

With the Serenity sleeves it looks as if he may glue them rather than sewing, and rounds/smooths the edges. Unless there are actually tiny stitches in the channels at the top and bottom, then he just runs a tool across those areas, either for decoration, to get the slight flare, or it's caused by tool that does the rounding. The holes for the joining stitches are either poked through with a punch and then threaded, or stitched with a sewing awl.

With a lighter weight leather, like kidskin, you can actually run it through the sewing machine. You just need a nylon foot, since metal sticks on leather, and a leather needle for your machine.

I have a sewing machine... darned if I remember how to use it tho...

I'd have to do it by hand, and a case is so small, how much sewing would there be anyway? This is a project for later, I am not at all set up to sew things (nor ever been any good at sewing). But what a great idea and a great way to reuse old nice leather!!!! I'm looking forward to seeing what you make Stormfinch!
