One more question before i take the plunge

First i would like to thank all that have answered my previous questions. For a beginner, this whole concept can be very overwelming. There is a ton of info on this site, but the more you read, the more questions you end up having, which is very frustrating.

I think i have narrowed down my first ecig to 2 different models. I am either going to get the 510 or the eGo.

When i first posted, one of the criteria i had was that it HAD to look like a cigarette. I am now not worried about looks as much as performance. Both the 510 and the eGo seem to get good reviews.

So i guess my question is simple...Which one would you buy if you had to pick from these 2?

Thanks again for all the help and input.

If you don't mind swapping out for fresh batteries every couple of hours then go with the 510. If 8 - 12 hours on one battery sounds more like your cup of tea, go with the eGo. My first venture into vaping was with blucigs. I like them, but swapping batteries every 45 minutes was a PITA. I then got a Tornado (same thing as eGo) and I'm loving it. One battery gets me through my morning, work and then dies out some point during the late evening, so I plop her in the charger and grab my charged one... rinse and repeat.

My advice would be to go for the TorneGo. ;)

Look at it this way, they are both the same just different batteries. Need to decide if you want a dev that runs all day on a single charge (ego) or not (510). Does the bigger size of the ego battery outweigh the hassle of having to charge the smaller (510) battery? Personal choice you will have to figure out. Size/battery life.
If you can afford it, buy both as attys will interchange.

Maybe find an affordable 510 that doesnt have a fancy pcc and try it w/o spending alot, then go for ego later when you figure the issues out.

Just my personnel advice........Get a 510 before you go and spend a bunch of money on the eGo set....Now don't get me wrong there's nothing wrong with the eGo set at all....I just feel that spending about $30 bucks for a full 510 set VS about $80 for an eGo makes a lot more sense for a newb.....But if you got the money and know 100% that you are going to love vaping then it's Completely up to you.....Just my opinion....Good Luck....

There are kits available in the Classifieds forum on ECF... Also liquid. You might get lucky and find a great kit for a good price (I bought my first 510 from Classified, brand new and had an extra battery).

The boxless kit is hard to beat from Cignot for $35
Joye 510 NO BOX

I suggest you choose the manual battery (sealed from liquid internally). You also could pick up one of the extended Life Batteries from them $16 which last about 4 hours.

Joye 510 Extended Life Battery - Manual Blue

DO get a bottle of liquid right away. Prefilled cartridges are what mess up most new folks. They don't last and you'll need to top them off and put a drop on the atomizer bridge each time you find the taste goes "off" so you don't get a burned dry flavor from your vapor.

Also consider purchasing a package of blank (no liquid) cartridges right away so you can enjoy your new e-liquid flavor. The prefilled cartridges that come with the kits have Marlboro flavor in them.

A battery modification unit is a great idea... if you are positive that you are willing to commit to e-cigs. For a brand new user, a $60 or so investment in a kit, liquid and carts is usually scary. I would hesitate to recommend a battery mod (you'll usually pay around $100, and then you have to purchase Li-Ion batteries, a charger and LEARN about how to use them safely).

Nah... start small... read the forum about the model you choose (510 info is here Joye 510 - E-Cigarette Forum

and buy the battery mod when you are sure this will work for you.

I have a 510 and have been very happy with it. As long as you have the PCC for it everything should work out fine for you. I just ordered the eGo and am expecting it this week (really excited for it) the only reason I even went for a second PV is that my wife decided she wanted to switch and we were broke so I got her a single battery and let her use my stuff. that, however, isn't going to work so I decided to get the ego and pass along my 510 batteries to her.The best part of the ego is that you can use the atty and carts from the 510 if you go that route.

Thanks again for all of the info. Guess i am going to go with the 510. ( I went looking for the ego and everyone was sold out, so that also helped with the decision). While looking at this site and also a bunch of youtube videos, i believe my father will also give it a try.

I have been taking care of him for the last 4 years since he had 3 heart attacks and 4 strokes. He is still smoking 1 1/2 packs a day and has tried many times to quit. We decided to quit together so maybe having a quitting partner will help.

So one last question, we are both going to get a 510 kit. He spends most of his day in front of his computer playing poker. I figured what i would order is the following:

Joye 510 NoBox with PCC (for me)
Joye 510 NoBox with USB Passthru (for my dad)

Is there anything else i should or need to buy?

A number of small bottles of juice of different flavors and strengths is all I would suggest for a first order.

Excellent choice muttsrt.....You can't go wrong with a 510.....I think that is all you need to get You and your Dad started....And of course juice....But that was already mentioned by Hoosier.... So from the looks of it, you got everything you need....Congrats on taking the first step to getting rid of those nasty analogs.....If you have any more questions or concerns Just post them up....ECF member's are great.....Good Luck......

A passthrough is a great idea, however I wouldn't plug it into the computer. Get one of the USB wall plugs (the one that comes with an iPhone works great). The thing you need to check is that it is at least 1000 mAh. AC Wall Plug to 5V USB Adapter (US Plug) - Retractable Cable

The passthrough in a car can save you battery time. You would use an adapter in the lighter/accessory plug. Cignot has one for use in the car for $5.00. Car DC to USB Adapter 1000mA

thanks to all again... I guess my new shopping list is:

Joye 510 NoBox with PCC (for me)
Joye 510 NoBox with USB Passthru (for my dad)
AC Wall Plug to 5V USB Adapter (US Plug) x2
Car DC to USB Adapter 1000mA (x2 as i think i will also get a passthru)
Joye 510 USB Passthru Black
and of course, some juice... any idea on how much juice i should buy for 2 people?

And i see that most suggest cignot.com so i will be ordering from them unless you guys/gals say differently.

payday is wed so i am hoping to put my order in at that time... will just buy single packs of cigarettes until the units arrive and i put them in action... i can't wait to stop paying $80+ a week for my 2 carton a week habit!

Just so you know the Tornado from Totally Wicked is the same device and they have plenty of them. But you're decision is good as it is. You can pick up a "TorneGo" battery or two, a cone and a charger once you have the 510 kit and want more battery.

cignot is excellent! For ejuice - the average is 20ml/week. And you might get some high nic and low nic ejuices in the same flavor so you could mix them if they are either too high or too low. Try to 'vape low and top off high' only when the urge hits you. That way you're not building up a tolerance for high nic. So you could start using a, say, 12mg nic level and if you feel you need more, top off with a 24, 26, 36mg. And if you find yourself topping off too often, try an 18mg base, etc. etc. Some VG or Ecopure ejuice really puts out the vapor too.

so if I read and understand correctly, i can order pieces later to turn my 510 into an ego/tornado?

Yep. The ego/tornado is just 510s on bigger batteries and with a decorative cone to tie it all together for aesthetics.

But you won't like the standard little 510 batteries. I advise people not to spend their money on them. At least go with the 510 mega batteries.

Of course, I know some can't afford the higher prices. In that case ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
