Since I've started vaping, I've been worried about getting too dehydrated. I usually drink lots of diet sodas throughout the day, but in my quest to keep hydrated while vaping, I've switched to lots and lots of ice water. I always have a large glass of ice water near me at all times now. Not really something I planned when I started vaping, but I'm sure it's better for me in the long run.

As a Diabetic I consumed plenty of diet soda in my time and have felt the effects from the Aspertame ingredient they put in it. I went away from drinking alot of it and felt the difference. Besides dehydration I had sore joints and felt mentally un sharp at times which all went away when I tapered off diet soda. Research Aspertame poisoning and see the known affects it will blow your mind.

I drink lots of water. Sometimes I add a little flavoring, like lemon juice, or some flavored type water. Plus I make my own electrolyte solution. When you start really pumping down the plain water watch your electrolytes. You can google how to make your own. I add a pinch of salt to every other glass of plain water, per my Dr's recommendation to add salt to my diet since my serum sodium level tanked and I could have ended up in the hospital. With the pinch of salt I am fine, all electrolyte levels in my blood good and healthy!

Great thread, Oxtail. Folks here suggested upping my water intake, so like you, I've been drinking more water. I cut back on diet sodas a while ago and switched to sparking waters because I like bubbles. The Safeway store brand of sparkling waters with a hint of orange, berry or lime really do the trick for me. They are not sweet, just a bit of flavor and bubbles.

And like Conrad said in his post, I'm ...... more. So because of the increased water intake, I try to keep some food in my tummy to slow down the water and pee effect.

I don't really drink water, as I always drink pop instead. Is it a big difference?

It is a huge difference. If you do not like your water plain, try squeezing a little lemon into it, or a tiny bit of juice. And with the juice, I mean a tiny bit, like a tablespoon or less to the bottle or large glass of water. The diet soda, or any soda, tea, coffee, or beer is not going to hydrate you like water will.

As ShariR said it's a HUGE difference. I love my diet coke but when I drink water during the day and lay off the soda I feel so much better. My skin feels better, I can think more clearly, and I feel like my body is getting what it wants. The soda might take away my thirst but I feel kind of 'yuck' after drinking a lot without any water. Water makes you feel so much better!!
Try it- you will see a difference!!

Good Luck!!

Over 90% of any of these drinks is water. That they don't rehydrate is basically a myth - the diuretic effect just isn't that strong.

Obviously if you drink ten pints of lager you'll be dehydrated the next day. But a couple of cans of beer (or cups of coffee) is going to hydrate you more or less as much as the equivalent volume of water.

I'm a big coffee drinker something trying to cut down on as know only adds to the dehydration do try getting 3-4 pints of water down a day and a nourishment drink as don't have a stable diet.

FranC I didn't know what Gatorade was so searched will have to try as seems similar in intake to what have only problem is nearest stockist is next City but sure could just do it on line.

I'm not going to pursue this point, but really - do you know this, or have you just heard it?

Try Googling for scientific sources saying that a reasonable quantity of tea, coffee or beer will dehydrate you. You won't find any, because all three are basically water.
