That is great - good for both of you! I actually was amazed because I automatically cut from a pack a day habit to about 3 a day using the e-cig with no effort on my part, but after two weeks, I found I was forcing myself to smoke, I actually enjoyed the e-cig more! So I gave away the couple of packs I still left and haven't turned back.

Sounds like you both are off to a great start! Welcome! :)

Yeah after a week of e-cig use I handed off half a carton of analogues. Wasn't touching them at all so thot someone else might be happy to get them (tho can't understand WHY anymore XD).

Something I'm noticing is how hard the conditioning is to break. Lots of the small things about cigarettes just... stick.

For instance, last night before bed, I had an urge to reach for the cigarette roller and roll that last cigarette before bedtime. This has been happening every night for the past week.

The rolling machine used to make this "clap" sound that was very recognizable. Sometimes, when Rich and I are in different parts of the house, I hear that sound and have to consciously tell myself that Rich is *not* rolling cigarettes.

And I sort of miss those little seven-minute chunks of time I call "the cigarette minute". I'm so used to thinking of things in terms of cigarette minutes that I still have moments where I think "I'm gonna start getting dinner together as soon as I'm done with this cigarette". I can't use the cigarette as a timer either - I used to allot myself little breaks in doing housework based on the length of a cigarette. Now I don't know how long to break for anymore!

This is why cigs are so hard to quit - the routine permeates our lives and even has an effect on how we approach and think about things. Do I have time for a cig before work? One last cig and then it's bedtime. Do I have enough cigs to last till whenever? Learning NOT to think about such things is a real hurdle, and I suspect is a big part of why so many go back after trying to quit.

How true! You've described it so well. I can't leave my house in the morning without having three cigarettes. Three, no more, no less. A few times when I had to get in car and drive after just one quick smoke I was really nervous. Not to mention that morning when I had no smokes in the house and had to drive to the gas station to buy a pack. I thought I'd crash. I was in a state of panic. Really.

Huh, this is a really interesting point, and now that you mention it it's so true!!! What if you go to direct dripping with your e-cig and tell yourself "ok, vape until those drops are gone and then bed/housework/etc" ??? I know it's not the same, but it might be helpful in establishing some kind of time limit to the vaping... ???

I personally can't STOP vaping pretty much ever. So I'm not much help there... :p

When I first started vaping, I knew there were going to be a great many cues to smoke. For me, it was important to simulate smoking as much as possibe. So I made a point to find a tobacco flavor that was as close as possible to what my cigs tasted like (took a few weeks of testing). I also needed lots of vapor and premium cartos help there. Also needed that heavy throat hit occasionally and menthols helped there. There are many great flavors, but until I get over the smoking itch....they don't do much for me. Further...I even went with an auto battery since pushing the button would be "too different". Hell....I even put my Vapor King in a cleaned-up ashtray. All these things help to make the transition....even if some seem silly. ;)

Simulate as much as you did before....for awhile...and the transistion will just happen rather than having to work for it.

I still have some of my ashtrays, the two on my desk now hold used carts and carts that are in progress. I have assorted ashtrays around the house and now rather than than holding wasted money in the way of dirty stinking cig butts they now collect change. Once full all change is deposited into a huge water bottle. One day I'll go to wally world with my huge water bottle and feed it all into the change counter and buy a vacation with it on Phillip Morris.

Hey guys...

Just wanted to let you know that today is my one-year anniversary of vaping!

That's right, I've been off the cigarettes for one year! I never thought I'd see myself one year off cigs, and loving it! Breathing well feels great!

The only downside is the fact that I can smell smokers at fifty paces now... and they don't smell nice.

Thank you ECF, and V4L, for making this possible. I don't think I would have had much success if I had started out with the Blu that put me on this journey in the first place. Good luck to all you newbies, I hope you all can work it like we did, you'll feel great for doing it!!

Congrats Stephra... one year is a huge accomplishment!

The funny part is that it doesn't FEEL huge. The first month was like a miracle, and then after that, the vape just kind of faded into the background. We had to check a calender a few weeks ago to figure out the exact day.

Sure has made a huge difference though... with no gripes at all.

This is exactly what I've done with mine. I bought a few nice pub trays while in London and love the look of em; very classic. They're now sparkling clean and home to a growing mountain of cartos.
