My Kanger SubTank Minis with .5 Ohm OCC coils (actual read is .58) at 24 W, 3.79 V and 6.8 Amps would burn through about 1-2.5 tanks a day. This new Intake with .45 Ohm Clapton Coils (actual read is .47) at 24 W, 3.35 V, and 7.8 Amps is going through easily 5-10 tanks. They are both sitting on the same SXMini SL Class, so if the readings are wrong, they are comparable and consistent. It's set Man that seems like a ton of juice without much change.

My initial thoughts (and I'm looking for yours) that I'm bouncing off the forum are (and please correct me, if I'm wrong):
1: .1 drop in Ohms can affect that juice usage that drastically. I think this is dubious. I did notice an increase in juice usage when I went from OCC 1.2 to .5 coils, but nothing that drastic. I was happy at 1.2, but they are discontinuing that Ohm. I'm only dropping another .11 Ohms with the Claptons. I haven't done the calculations, but the raise in voltage does seem reasonable considering the raise in Ohms.

2: The Clapton coil really makes that big of a difference in juice consumption/vape production. I know they are proportional, and the Clapton coil is supposed to produce more vape because of its drastically increased surface area. This makes more sense. The Clapton makes nice big clouds and tastes richer, but I'm not wanting to cloud out my office building, for obvious reasons.

Solution: Got back to vaping 1.2 Ohm micro-coils. I only switched to the Kanger and OCC coils because I was tired of building my own coils. It was a switch for pure convenience. I found pre-built 1.2 Kanthal micro-coils (10 for $2.5). When I used my Russians and Kayfuns, they weren't around in large and cheap numbers, so I built my own. That would lower my cost, split the convenience curve, hopefully lower my juice consumption drastically, and maybe get some more life out of my batts. I could even get some use out of the build decks I have for the SubTanks.

It that all stands true, then it looks like I'm going to see if I can find some Kanger SubTank Plus V2's. They were too big, @ 25mm, for my iStick 40W's, but would be perfect for my SL Class. The SubTanks perform perfectly for my needs. I can use the build decks and still use the OCC coils, until they are discontinued.

It's been a while since I've had to worry about these factors. I just want to have a sounding board for my analysis.

Are you talking about the subtank plus - the one that holds 7ml. Man, I have been trying to get my hands on one. There was a place that had them and I ordered and paid and then they said, "Sorry we are out of them". If you do have the plus tanks I'd be interested in buying one from you.

As far as the small drop in ohms - I am in the range you mentioned. I use toptanks with the rba piece at around .5 at 20 to 25 watts.

I had looked at the RTA you mentioned - there are 2 glasses that go with it. The smaller one holds only 2.5 ml of juice --are you by chance using that one or the larger glass. You would go through more because it's smaller.

I have another geekvape rta tank that I use and when the resistance is .45 or 47 I do go through more juice because I use higher wattage but not as much as you mentioned you go through.

Also are you talking about the square coils. I used to use the occ's in my nano's but I gave my nano's away and use the rba in my toptanks. Anyhow, eightvape has them on sale for 5.65 for a 5 pack. It is the .5 and square and the NiCr.

Thanks for responding.

Everything you said was straight on. I love my Kangers. The Intake is a nice tank. I love the fact that it doesn't leak. VERY NICE! I'm using the bubble tank because the straight tank is just too small. But I know I'll go through bubble tanks like crazy, as they can be broken more easily.

The Intake was guzzling juice because I was using a Clapton coil @ .45 Ohms. Now I'm back to a 1.2 kanthal microcoil. Since I can now buy these pre-made, I don't have to carry all my vape tools with me
everywhere. It's not as convenient as the drop-ins, but it's not bad.

I use the square drop-ins with my Kangers. I've been vaping @ .5 for a year plus. I only changed because I couldn't get the 1.2's any longer. I had totally forgotten about the rebuildable decks. I have at least 4, that I can find. The problem with the Mini now is that it's too small for the SXMini SL Class. So, I started looking for a new replacement. Then I stumbled upon the SubTank Plus (V2). I remember passing on it in the store (years ago) because it was too big for my Provari's and SvoeMesto's. Now, however, it would be the perfect size, and with 7ml of juice, it's exactly what I need.

Unfortunately, I click on EVERY link to it in Google (US, UK, AU, DE, IT, RU, etc....){thx Google for translation}. Everywhere that said they had it either really didn't or their site wouldn't process orders.

Finally, a fellow from across the pond in the UK gave me a link. One I hadn't seen. After I ordered 3, their inventory should now be down to 12. My first two were ordered last night. I called them and talked to them this morning. They were actually boxing mine as we talked. They shipped today and will be here Monday. I just ordered another before I posted this link. With my luck, after posting the link, they'd all be gone before I decided whether or not to get a third.

I'm pretty sure, unless you want to order 100's from a Chinese distributor or personally go to Guongdong China (where they have over +500,000 sitting on a shelf), this is the only place on the globe you can get these.

Here's the link......enjoy!

The SX Mini is pretty big so I can see why you want a bigger tank.

Thanks for the link for the subtank plus. l like Kanger - I use a toptank on a kbox 120 and use a 25mm RTA on some of my other setups. I use either rba or rta and buy the coils premade and just wick them.

I stopped buying drop-in coils awhile back. Fasttech has original Kanger rba heads if you need to replace any.

I just wish the subtank had a top fill but I can live with the bottom fill. Thanks again for the link.

WARNING - To all the TPD sufferers out there. This image may be disturbing, and is definitely NOT TPD Compliant!

Yes, everything on this side of the pond is BIGGER! :30:

Finally, The SubTank Plus (V2)'s are here! Thanks @donald-trumps-fister on POTV who found a link:

KangerTech Subtank Plus

VictoriusVapors.com actually has the Kangertech SubTank Plus (V2) in stock (only 12 after my order), and this is exactly what I was looking for.

Including those from my Mini's, I now have 6 build decks, so that keeps the convenience of the drop-in coils still in play. I can finish out my supply of prebuilt coils, then use the build decks. In essence, if I spend a few minutes to build the decks ahead of time, it's like I have a full box of drop-ins to use whenever needed, I also like that I'm back to 1.2 Ohms micro-coils, increasing battery life, and using less juice - all with a cost of almost $0.

It's a full 7 ml of juice and the Vape is exactly the same as my beloved SubTank Minis. (I'll not be taking this one with me when go back to Europe.) Since the Mini's use the same coil, I'll still keep a spare Mini in a bat box for emergencies. No need to carry build supplies.
