One week into vaping and I think I chose the wrong tank :\

Blundering about in ignorance when I first got into vaping last week, I bought myself a 900mAh battery with an eGo thread and 2 T2 clearomizers of 2.4 ml capacity. I've noticed that the wicks in the T2 "waste" a lot of juice since they always need to be soaked up wet enough to get a decent vape and flavor.
I'd like to move to a more efficient tank for now to go with my eGo thread battery but I'm not sure which one I should look to get.
I'm assuming a bottom fed coil type would be more efficient since the juice would always be above the coil unlike the thread wicks on the T2 which I have to keep in a horizontal position so that they stay wet.
2.4ml seems to a decent enough capacity for me for now and could probably make do with 1.5 ml too if need be, as I don't mind refilling often.

Could I have some pointers on what tank would be apt for me and what are the replacement coils I should stock for these, please? ( I see that there are ones in BVC/BDC and various ohm rating and am all confused) :(

I've used the Kanger Aerotank mini for months on a fixed voltage ego battery. 1.5 ml and $20. I used Kanger 1.5 ohm dual coils. I prefer 1.5 ohms in the Aerotank mini so I could get my vape on a little quicker. Coils were hit and miss but mostly hit.

I switched to a Nautilus mini simply because I was tired of refilling 2-3 times a day. The extra half a ml definitely made a difference. Also, the BVC coils provided a smoother draw, though, at a pricier cost. I use both 1.6 ohm (at 4.2 volts max) and 1.8 ohm (at 5 volts max) BVC coils. Any voltage higher than that can destroy the coils/wick.

Hello

You might want to look at the EVOD. It's a basic bottom coil tank that has been around for awhile. It uses the same replacement coils as the Protank 1 and 2. The link is just to illustrate, it's not the best price.

Kanger EVOD eGO Bottom Coil Clearomizer

You wrote "eGo thread" twice, but an eGo battery has both 510 and eGo threads, which will give you a wider variety of tanks you can use. The examples are dated, since there are too many new products on the market for me to keep up.

If you are using a single voltage eGo (not one where you can adjust the power), you want to use single coils roughly between 1.5Ω and 2.0Ω (higher will be a cooler vape). The battery doesn't have the power to give you a really good vape (in my experience) with dual coils and under 1.5Ω or so will exceed the amp limit.

I loved evods and ProTanks and Aspires when I used ego batteries. I know sometimes it can be a little frustrating. I still remember how easy it was to keep a carton of cigarettes in the drawer. But vaping is soooooooooo much tastier. Well worth the effort. There are so many different things you can try. Good luck to you.

Reading up a bit more on the battery I have in hand, it seems to be a single voltage 650 mAh working at 3.3 volts (according to spec info on manufacturer website)

As I widened my search I was considering one of these:

  • Aspire Nautilus Mini (with the bvc coils)
  • Kanger mini Protank 3
  • Aerotank mini

(not sure if either the mini Protank 3 or the Aerotank use BVCs, so a bit confused about those)

I'd prefer buying more than a few of one of these petite tanks as I can use different flavours, they're Pyrex and can also be used later when I move to a better battery.

Any suggestions on which one I should go for and how many coils (5 packs) I should stock up?

We dont have access to e-cigarette accessories here in India too much and will have to depend on importing everything, so I'd rather stock up for a month or two worth of replenishables (coils, juice, etc),

I started with an eGo battery. I found that I had to recharge pretty often since it did not math my 1300mAH use a day. So I moved to a box mod.

The eGo did work well as an emergency spare for the car, though. I set my car up for USB charging, and that helped.

Anyway, 650mAH means that I would probably need 3 for vaping, especially if on the go.

On a regulated stick battery like the ego I went with the 1.8 ohm coils. They give a bit of a warmer vape and heat up a lot quicker. I also rebuild all my protank coils to 1.5 to 1.8 ohm. That would be my 2 cents.

everyone who has gotten into vaping has bought the wrong first tank/battery...

if you wish to keep the eGo battery, consider looking into the Trojan atomizer....decent tank for the price, lots of features and looks good on an ego.

I am guilty of this, as well. I started with the Kanger EVOD, which was mentioned earlier. I didn't want to invest too much, in case it didn't end up working well with regard to keeping me off of cigarettes. After about a week and a half, I upgraded to the Aspire Nautilus Mini, with the CF VV battery, I think it is called their Premium Starter Kit, which you can find for $60 or less. I still have my EVOD and use it while the Aspire is charging, or while driving. In the car was where I probably smoked half of my cigarettes. I have been very pleased with the Aspire kit. The battery will not last too much longer as yours, as it is 1000 mah, and the tank capacity is lower at 2mL, but the airflow and taste were a lot better than the EVOD.

Hey I love my Ego batts and use original Evods,Protank mini 2s,and Hypertanks on them - these all use a single coil - I use the 1.8s and these are the most reasonable coils to buy IMO:) I only buy Authentic Kangertech coils though. If you can - get a few different tanks to try out and good luck:toast:

My wife has been using T2s for nearly 2 years. She likes that it is top fill and she can just unscrew the top and fill it at any time.

I used T2s for awhile but moved on to others. For a typical ego I prefer the basic single coil Evod or Protank II mini with a 1.8 ohm coil. These only hold 1.5 mil so I have several that I will fill at the same time so I only have to bother with filling them every day or two. I usually build my own coils for them but sometiomes I'm lazy and just pop in a stock coil.

For bigger devices I use a Protank II with an airflow control base (purchased separately). These can be used on an ego but will seem a bit top heavy. They do hold more liquid.

The beauty of my system (at least IMO) is that all of these use the same replacement coil.

Skip the Evod, and grab a Protank 2 Mini if you can find one. I started with the Evods, and the Protank was a world of difference in flavor and vapor. The full Protank 2 is even better, but its a little too big and use to knock my Evod batteries over.. I always used the 1.8 coils, even when I rebuilt em.

I'd stay away from the Protank 3s, and the Aero's. They're all dual coil attys. They'll use a lot more juice and an eGo sized battery just doesn't really have the power those tanks need..
