One week Riva...

Hi all,

following your advice I got the following from Liberty Flights last wednesday:

1 RIVA SE steel set
2 delrin drip tips
10 2 ohm BOGE cartomizers
and a bunch of 0 nic juices...

Wow, I'm really happy I made the switch.
It performs so much better than my previous pv.

One question though:
One week in one of the atties just stopped working.
I used it to drip and decided to try a cart.
Blew out the remaining juice (gently), primed it, put a filled carto on it, vaped just fine for 5 puffs.
Put it away, a little later tried to activate it, but nothing happened. Atty as dead as a dodo...

Anything I can try that doesn't void the waranty to get it back to life?

Soak it in distilled water or vodka for about 30 minutes. Blow either fluid through it several times. Let dry for 24 Hours. Attempt a "dry burn" you can youtube that term for some good instructional vids. If it still wont fire the coil is likely poped.

I'm a bit sceptical on dry-burning an atty that's still has the wick...
Won't it leave a burnt taste?

At the moment the atty doesn't even get warm... no reaction what so ever.

if it wont even warm up you would have to check into disassembling it to see if its the coil or a short and im not so good with that.

Sounds like the atomizers is just plain dead since it won't even get warm. No amount of cleaning will revive it. Perhaps it just needs to be screwed in a tad further. If you have a mulitimeter, check it to see if the resistance is normal. Should be in the 3 ohm range.

Meanwhile, you have those 10 boge cartomizers. Give them a try.

I use those as my main vape, the atty was usefull to taste juices before commiting a carto to them...
The BOGE's blast like mad, verry happy with those.
Will check with multimeter tomorrow...

Try the ressurector cartos also, they hit super nice on the riva. Their 1.7ohm so they will be alittle warmer than the boges and they hOld 2ml of juice which is nice bc you don't have to refill often

sometimes the center pin on the atty needs to be pulled up to make contact. take a pin and gently stick it just a tiny way into the hole in the screw end of the atty and gently pull up. this has revived attys for me

Liberty-Flights.com has warranties on each piece - contact them immediately and tell them the atomizer died. it should state near the description of what you bought what the warranty is on each part. And if not, there is a page elsewhere on the site stating the warranties.

So I recommend not messing with the atomizer at all - you don't want it to look like you butchered it. Just get replacement right away.

I bought attys from them that were DOA, I just chalked it up as my loss, but I have had several that just crapped out on me, so much so that I have pretty much given them up. I have switched to cartomizers, they work every bit as well as attys, you can drip into them and they cost alot less. So far for me, they work much better too, I havent killed one in two weeks, yep, been using the same two for two weeks and I am a chain vapor. So I have to say, that unless you just love them, switch from attys to cartomizers, you won't be sorry.

Ok I used a multimeter to get the resistance of the dead atty.
It jumped around a lot from 100 to 85 (should be around 3 or 4 ohms).

What do I mak of this?

That resistance indicates that its dead. No way to fix it. Contact Liberty Flights and tell them about it since its only been about a week. They are guaranteed for a month.

...and order some low resistance cartomizers while you at it...so much less fiddly than direct dripping...............................

This switch made my vaping life a thousand times better. The weak link in vaping is the atty, eliminate it.

I already use 2 ohm cartomizers, but I still used the atty to taste juices before spending a carto on them.
Abe already contacted me and said that if I can't bring it back to life he'll send me a new one.
