I like to pride myself on being the "noobie friendly" kind of poster, so I thought that I would post a one week testimonial. I was shocked when I looked down at my banner at the bottom of the post and realized that I hadn't smoked an analog for a week! Actually been a week and what it says for hours, then half a day on top of that since it only covers from the first whole day that you haven't smoked. But still, I couldn't believe that it had been a week already!

I ordered my 510 from RuyanDirect and anxiously awaited its arrival. Seemed like it took forever to come from China, but it didn't take that long really and was well worth it! Don't put it off just because you think that it's going to take forever! I ordered from them because it was the cheapest that I could find and that was an issue for me, but there are some suppliers in the USA that also has them for a marginally slight bit more money.

If you are a new person and you are here already and haven't ordered a PV yet, that is a great first step! I always research everything to death before I buy it, so I found this forum and several other websites that I bookmarked to read everything that I could before purchasing. When I first heard about this item, I found a website that sold them for way more expensive than what they should have been sold for, and probably not as good of a device as I ended up getting. I know that you are excited like I was, but read read read to make sure you get what is best for you! I also just realized that my local smoke shop carries a type of PV, but they and the carts are horribly overpriced! If you need one RIGHT NOW and you can't wait and have the money, you can start there if you like, but order a better device as suggested in this forum to be your main device.

This forum is very comprehensive and full of awesome and very smart people that tons of great information! Everyone is sweet and very loving, great place for no drama mature discussions. I'm glad that new users find this place and get to benefit from everything that it has to offer! Many kudos to the people that come here and the mods that help make this place more smooth, though I think that probably the users being so mature make their jobs a lot easier for them!

On to the nitty gritty of the testimonial! If you find that you get your device and you are having issues with it, I would say that probably at least 80% of the time (in my opinion), the issues may be caused by user error. Don't just get frustrated and say "This thing is a piece of **** and doesn't work" and toss it out or go back to analogs. I have made a couple of errors in the week that I have had mine, and was luckily able to read threads here and make threads here that have helped me figure out what the issues were. Don't be afraid to ask for help! We promise that we don't laugh at you or call you an idiot! Don't be shy, that's what we are here for, we all want to help you. Even though I may not know everything yet, I still try to help people as much as I can. You can be sure here that if you are having a specific type of problem, that someone else has probably had that issue at some point!

These things really do work and cover the addictive issues that things such as Chantix and the patch do not. I am talking about the addictive property of the inhaling/throat hit issue and the hand to mouth movement that we have grown accustomed to from smoking. It's not just about the nicotine, which I am sure that a lot of people have realized by now. It's about the other physical things that happen when we were smoking analogs. That is why I find this to be so effective, it's not just like slapping a bandaid on the problem, it's actually a working treatment to all of the issues involved in the addiction.

I have been very happy with my 510 in the week that I have had it. I seem to vape more now than I did when I first got it, which is probably due to me getting used to it. I would say that this is probably normal for new people. I can't say anything bad about my experience with my PV or my experience in the community. Everything has been very great!

I'd like to go on to a list of frequently asked questions that I see from new people, addressing these from the point of view of a new person like myself may help someone out!

1. How many batteries should I get?
A- I would suggest starting out with at least 3. The 510 comes with 2 if you get that set, but I just ordered another once since I would always like to have 2 available for use and 1 on the charger. Makes me feel better to know that I can go out with 2 in my purse and have one still charging at home.

2. What strength liquid should I get?
A- My theory on this when I got mine was that I was going to get the highest nic that they had and work my way down. Particularly since I had grown accustomed to smoking the most nasty and raunchy cheap analogs that were out there, which tend to seem a bit stronger than most good brands. So always know that you can dilute your liquid, which can be found here on the forum, I won't get into the specifics of it since I don't know a lot about it yet. But it's a lot harder to try to add nic to existing liquid. I suggest trying the highest nic that the place you order from has and just going from there. Or if you have the money, go for a few different strengths and find out what works best for you.

3. Which PV should I buy?
A- I'm a bit biased, but I am going to go with the 510. This is my first and only PV, and I indeed love it. I think that it is very user friendly for new people.

4. Should I get manual battery or automatic?
A- I wasn't sure about this when I first heard about these things. I felt like I wanted a "real" smoking experience and didn't want to fiddle with hitting a battery. However, after I heard about the problems that auto batteries can have, I decided on a manual. And let me tell you, you don't even realize that you are hitting a button! It seems that my hand just automatically held the manual PV in such a way that it was effortless to hit the button and I didn't even know that I was doing it!

5. Oh my God, FDA ban? -PANIC-
A- Don't poop your pants just yet! I am very convinced that they are just going to regulate the liquids ingredients to their standards and maybe figure out some way to tax everything. In my opinion, which only just that- my opinion- I do not think that these are going to get outright banned. And I also think that it is going to take them a while to get everything figured out and find all of the loopholes that they can to make this all work in their favor.

If you have any more questions, be sure to check out all of the other threads here and watch the videos that the lovely people here have made. Also, if you want any questions answered from a "noobie" point of view, do not hesitate to shoot me a personal message and I will answer you there, or here! Heck if it's something that I think is very important for new people, I may even make a new thread on it since I am very long winded at times!

Once again, mods feel free to move this thread to anywhere else that you see fit.

Well, I've been vaping for about a week now, but I've only been off analogs since late Saturday night. :)

What happened was....I bought a cheap, crappy e-cig off DealExtreme and it came early last week. I vaped on it on and off, but it sucked (plus it only came with one battery) so after a day or two of that I was basically 50/50 between vaping and smoking.

But then last Saturday morning I went to the post office and picked up my 901 (actually 2 kits...one for me and one for my wife). I was so excited and I chain-vaped all damn day until I went through 2 batteries and started to get worried about that initial charge issue, so I charged up all my batteries for 8 hours and during that period I smoked analogs.

But since then (late Saturday night), I haven't had one single analog. Now that's not to say I won't have an analog soon because I very well might. I've had a few cravings for them from time to time, but I've vaped and forgot about those cravings. But I'm not going to feel guilty if I break down and have an analog every great once in a while. I'm taking this casually.

I doubt I'll have an analog soon, but I'm just saying...I'm leaving the option open in case I run out of batteries or juice or just absolutely feel like I NEED that posion again. lol It might not happen, and I'll try to fight it, but I'm not going to make a huge deal about it because I know now that I'm a vaper primarily and I'm pretty much leaving smoking behind. I mean...it's been 4 days so far for me....that's huge in my book. I haven't had SERIOUS cravings for them thanks to the e-cig, but JUST in case....I'm leaving that option in the worst case scenario and I won't get down about it if it happens because I know how easy it is to transition straight back to the e-cig thankfully.

As I said, I have a 901 and I absolutely love it. I ordered it off of RuyanDirect using the registered airmail (cheap) option and it took 3 painfully long weeks to wait. I won't ever do that again. If I ever need something to arrive within a week or so, I'll spring for the extra shipping charge or I'll buy domestic instead. That 3 week wait SUCKED. I will not do that again. It wasn't worth the 3 dollar shipping. It would have been much better to pay the extra shipping to get it here within a somewhat reasonable timeframe.

Anyway, I love vaping. My favorite flavors so far are Red Bull, Coffee, and Coca-Cola (all from RuyanDirect). I've always been mostly a menthol smoker and I'm craving a good, cold menthol flavor, but the menthols I've ordered from various sites so far just do not do the trick at all. I've heard Nhaler has great menthol juice though, so I plan on ordering that next (when I have some expendable cashflow again one of these days!).

About batteries...yes...I think at least 3 batteries per person is really necessary. My wife and I both have 2 batteries a piece, 4 batteries total. And that at times is just not enough. I've found that I need to have 2 charged batteries ready to go and one charging to get me through the day.

To try to address this issue, I ordered 2 usb 901 passthroughs from RuyanDirect. They came yesterday. But the strange thing is...even though they are both manuals, I get much less vapor off of them than I do with my 901 automatics. It's strange. I'm holding that button down and taking deep, deep hits, but I'm not getting nearly as good of hits as I do with my standard 901 batteries. So my usb passthroughs are backups until I find better passthroughs. And yes I need to order more standard 901 batteries for sure...like at least 2.....probably 4 more in the next week or two.

To summarize my long, droning post.....I love vaping. It's really helping me save money on analogs and I don't feel like such a damn slave like I have all these years. Plus I genuinely enjoy vaping. I enjoy the process and the wide variety of flavors, and the freedom to vape in places I couldn't smoke before (such as work...where I can discreetly vape and nobody has any idea because they can't smell a damn thing lol).

Good post. I got my 510 kit in yesterday and I am loving it. It is very user friendly. After watching a couple friends struggle with Luci and Blu, I am glad I ordered the 510 first. It hit great right out the box, good vapor also. I also got 10ml of 24mg menthol. I work nights and have been using it all night. I am still using my first cart, and I have only used about 12 drips of juice, and it is still hitting good. I have manual batteries and the first batt I used lasted a lil over 7 hours on just the factory charge (followed the instruction manual for the other batt, 8 hour charge- 20 minute use- another hour charge, and it is still working good)! Taking only 3 or 4 vapes an hour has been working great for me, no analogs and no cravings! Well, I guess this is my first day testimonial, lol. I am so glad a friend introduced me to vaping now.

Great post, goddess!

I'd just like to add an alternative take on this:

2. What strength liquid should I get?
If you can afford it, get at least three different strengths including zero-nic. I started out with high-nic liquid and could not vape it at all. It was way too strong for me! So then I had to order some low and zero and leave my PV sitting around until the new stuff arrived. If I hadn't been so determined that this was going to work for me, I might have tossed it aside then and there instead of throwing yet more $$ into the pot. So get some zero-nic, at least, with your first order -- you can always use it to dilute with later!!

Also: PG vs VG liquid. I would order one of each if possible, because if you turn out to have issues with PG, as I do, you may think the PV isn't working for you, when in fact it is the PG that isn't working for you.

Good luck everyone!! :)

Glad to know it's been so easy for you!

I am a bit worried, although I am determined to make it work, since I am truly ready to quit smoking, but it's the habit that breaks me down- I'm a fidgeter otherwise, and need my hands occupied.

I'm still waiting on my PV, and can't wait. It hit new york at 2am, so hopefully in the next few days!

I think I've decided I'm going to tell myself that vaping IS smoking. I'm not quitting, I'm just changing brands (to one that tastes better). Mental thing- I get anxious about the thought of quitting.

I'm a week in today with my 510. 12 analogs in that time, none in the last three days. I'm doing the vaping stealth thing at my desk to break the habit of going outside to smoke. (I went outside the first morning and felt like a tool...why the hell was I going outside to not smoke?)

I still find myself warping something up, opening my desk drawer, and reaching for the anaolgs but that is becoming much less frequent. The urge to go outside and smoke (regardless of weather or not I'm completely buzzed on nic) is also starting to taper off

I'm going to start cutting my 36mg juice back with some 18mg tomorrow.

It's working

Great Posts. I have been free from analogs for almost two weeks. (Didnt do a one week testimonial) I am said friend in earlier post. I went to a kiosk in the mall and bought a Luci. In all fairness, they work. Just not like my 510. I forced myself to not smoke analogs while I struggled through until the 510 arrrived. I am glad I did. I will never smoke again. I am also glad that the Google gods brought this forum up when I was looking for info about e-cigs. There is enough info in this forum to get you through any problem you encounter. Just ask for help if you can't find it. There are a lot of good people on this forum. Good Luck. ;)

I think I'm about a week into it. I'm already only using zero-nic juice. I ordered my 510 starter kit because I am an ex-smoker who was having occasional relapses. I was a little bit into another relapse when I ordered this. I used a bit of the nic carts for the first few days to take the edge off the nic withdrawal but it went away fairly quickly and easily. I'm happy and relaxed today with no desire for either an analog or a nic cart.

The reason I end up smoking is a strong desire for the routine and act of it. Of course, in doing that with analogs, nicotine is involved so addiction to nicotine develops even though that is not what draws me to smoke initially. Now I don't have to worry about having to accept nicotine into my system when I want to do my thing. It just relaxes me; it's my absolute favourite meditation.

I think the 510 rocks! Before my kit and PCC even arrived I already ordered more parts and empty carts because so many posts here made such good points for it. I'm glad I did. I was getting by on 2 batteries but I also wasn't going anywhere for more than an hour or so at a time. The PCC helps too. I now have 3 manual and one auto. I like them both but probably would never want to take my auto outside if it's breezy since it gets triggered from being blown on as well as drawn on. Not to be outdone by myself, I ordered some more manual batteries with green LEDs this time and a usb passthrough since I do find myself vaping while at the computer a lot. I haven't had to switch atomizers yet but did order several of those to have on hand so I can feel secure I won't get stuck without.

It's been a great week. I went out to a bar the other night and just used my PV when I was outside talking to my smoking friends. It is the first time I've ever been in that situation and not lit up an analog cigarette. I didn't even want to, I prefer vaping.

Good post superstar. I was like you in that I research everything but i got started by an impulse buy of an NJoy. Saw it for weeks in the gas station i bought my analogs at. Bought it then started researching them and found this place. Then i researched stuff here and got a couple 510 kits and PCC. One thing i really like and would suggest is a pass through. I got mine for like $15 and well worth it. I cut the battery off mine and re soldered so i have 5v. The 5v is nice to wake up with, gives me that "kick" in the morning and i don't need to worry about batteries while i am waking up plus i always wake up in front of the computer.

Go Bucks!...saw your from Ohio!

Good post, very informative. My husband and I have been smoking collectively for something crazy like 24 years. (11yrs for me/13yrs for him) We have children who despise the smell. I've done damage to my teeth by obsessively over-brushing so as not to kiss my girls with cigarette breath.....not to mention the new FSC crud they have added is making me hack and choke more than ever. SO~ here we are, researching the cigarette of the future as my husband calls them. I have been hesitant to accept that this will curb my desire, but after reading about a million posts/reviews....I can say that I am finally on board. Thanks to everyone for the info. I will be glad whenI am no longer a slave to the analog. :)

Thanks for the compliments on the post! I try to do anything I can to be helpful!

Also, if you aren't able to quit smoking analogs for a while before or after you get your PV, don't sweat it! It worked for me, but I am also a person who has quit drinking cold turkey after heavily drinking for several years! Have to go with what you are comfortable with, not everyone is the same. I was talking to an old friend today about it and she said several times "And you haven't had a SINGLE cigarette since you got that thing?" like she couldn't believe it or something. :p I actually smoked an analog for the last time right before I charged my PV up and assembled it, then went straight to vaping.

I put my half pack of analogs somewhere that I could not see them and then a few hours later I realized that my ashtray was still on my desk with cigarette butts in it, so I emptied it and put it somewhere that I couldn't see it. I didn't ever remember until just now that my car ashtray still probably has some cig butts in it, so I will have to empty that out the next time that I go to my car.

The point is, don't get discouraged if you can't do it right away, and don't be afraid to ask for support!

That's a great idea, im going to use it. I have a very hard time actually visualizing myself not smoking so quitting has always been a very stressful thing to think about. Maybe your method will work for me.

Been without analogs 6 days and feel great. Slightly happier and just more satisfied with life. I started with blu and later found out the 510 is the way to go. Already ordered it and the PCC, and will return my blu's when my 510's in.

Yeah mentally psyching yourself definetly helps. You also gotta have a good vape. Upping the regular nic doses then what im used to probably did it for me, and how im lowering to 11mg/2 ml per day. Maybe more.

Great thread, Goddess. Not a newbie to vaping, exactly. I started in April. I wanted to encourage the newbies here. I have tried several styles and like penstyles the best.

I spent quite a bit of money initially, but it has now evened out to about $60 a month for me.

Vaping is aggravating at times, having to fool with charging batteries, having atomizers die and having to return them. Choosing liquid flavors, refilling cartridges and always looking for the best deal.

That being said, I can tell you Vaping is so worth the trouble and the aggravation! It is great not to have smelly clothes, my car is clean and I can vape at my desk.

Sunday I took a 2-hr walk. I trudged up a hill and at the top, I stopped, looked down the hill I had just climbed and realized I was not out of breath! 8-oI was not even breathing hard! My skin looks better, my teeth are whiter. I could go on and on!

If you're on the fence about buying a kit, my advice is go ahead and do it!

So is that $60 a month for everything including hardware that you have bought now, or is that what you see yourself paying every month for liquids and equipment replacement?

Great job, Goddess!

I, too, was skeptical about quitting on e cigs. I've tried so many other things to quit, and I was always disappointed. I figured this would be just another failed experiment.

So imagine my surprise when I finally got my 510 and charged it up. I had my last analog (tobacco) while waiting for it to charge. It wasn't intended to be my last analog, but that's how it turned out. One hit and I was hooked! I haven't wanted tobacco since. I have had nicotine cravings, but the old reliable 510 takes care of those. I started on 24 mg juice, and now I mostly use 18 mg. I'm about to order some 9-12 mg juice and see how that goes. I can easily see myself going to 0 nic within a year.

And if I don't, that's OK. I'll take 11 or 12 mg juice for the rest of my life if it keeps me off tobacco.

On a technical note, I highly recommend getting at least 4-5 spare atomizers. Those things tend to crap out pretty quickly - 2 weeks on average, a month if you're lucky. Good luck!
