I like to pride myself on being the "noobie friendly" kind of poster, so I thought that I would post a one week testimonial. I was shocked when I looked down at my banner at the bottom of the post and realized that I hadn't smoked an analog for a week! Actually been a week and what it says for hours, then half a day on top of that since it only covers from the first whole day that you haven't smoked. But still, I couldn't believe that it had been a week already!
I ordered my 510 from RuyanDirect and anxiously awaited its arrival. Seemed like it took forever to come from China, but it didn't take that long really and was well worth it! Don't put it off just because you think that it's going to take forever! I ordered from them because it was the cheapest that I could find and that was an issue for me, but there are some suppliers in the USA that also has them for a marginally slight bit more money.
If you are a new person and you are here already and haven't ordered a PV yet, that is a great first step! I always research everything to death before I buy it, so I found this forum and several other websites that I bookmarked to read everything that I could before purchasing. When I first heard about this item, I found a website that sold them for way more expensive than what they should have been sold for, and probably not as good of a device as I ended up getting. I know that you are excited like I was, but read read read to make sure you get what is best for you! I also just realized that my local smoke shop carries a type of PV, but they and the carts are horribly overpriced! If you need one RIGHT NOW and you can't wait and have the money, you can start there if you like, but order a better device as suggested in this forum to be your main device.
This forum is very comprehensive and full of awesome and very smart people that tons of great information! Everyone is sweet and very loving, great place for no drama mature discussions. I'm glad that new users find this place and get to benefit from everything that it has to offer! Many kudos to the people that come here and the mods that help make this place more smooth, though I think that probably the users being so mature make their jobs a lot easier for them!
On to the nitty gritty of the testimonial! If you find that you get your device and you are having issues with it, I would say that probably at least 80% of the time (in my opinion), the issues may be caused by user error. Don't just get frustrated and say "This thing is a piece of **** and doesn't work" and toss it out or go back to analogs. I have made a couple of errors in the week that I have had mine, and was luckily able to read threads here and make threads here that have helped me figure out what the issues were. Don't be afraid to ask for help! We promise that we don't laugh at you or call you an idiot! Don't be shy, that's what we are here for, we all want to help you. Even though I may not know everything yet, I still try to help people as much as I can. You can be sure here that if you are having a specific type of problem, that someone else has probably had that issue at some point!
These things really do work and cover the addictive issues that things such as Chantix and the patch do not. I am talking about the addictive property of the inhaling/throat hit issue and the hand to mouth movement that we have grown accustomed to from smoking. It's not just about the nicotine, which I am sure that a lot of people have realized by now. It's about the other physical things that happen when we were smoking analogs. That is why I find this to be so effective, it's not just like slapping a bandaid on the problem, it's actually a working treatment to all of the issues involved in the addiction.
I have been very happy with my 510 in the week that I have had it. I seem to vape more now than I did when I first got it, which is probably due to me getting used to it. I would say that this is probably normal for new people. I can't say anything bad about my experience with my PV or my experience in the community. Everything has been very great!
I'd like to go on to a list of frequently asked questions that I see from new people, addressing these from the point of view of a new person like myself may help someone out!
1. How many batteries should I get?
A- I would suggest starting out with at least 3. The 510 comes with 2 if you get that set, but I just ordered another once since I would always like to have 2 available for use and 1 on the charger. Makes me feel better to know that I can go out with 2 in my purse and have one still charging at home.
2. What strength liquid should I get?
A- My theory on this when I got mine was that I was going to get the highest nic that they had and work my way down. Particularly since I had grown accustomed to smoking the most nasty and raunchy cheap analogs that were out there, which tend to seem a bit stronger than most good brands. So always know that you can dilute your liquid, which can be found here on the forum, I won't get into the specifics of it since I don't know a lot about it yet. But it's a lot harder to try to add nic to existing liquid. I suggest trying the highest nic that the place you order from has and just going from there. Or if you have the money, go for a few different strengths and find out what works best for you.
3. Which PV should I buy?
A- I'm a bit biased, but I am going to go with the 510. This is my first and only PV, and I indeed love it. I think that it is very user friendly for new people.
4. Should I get manual battery or automatic?
A- I wasn't sure about this when I first heard about these things. I felt like I wanted a "real" smoking experience and didn't want to fiddle with hitting a battery. However, after I heard about the problems that auto batteries can have, I decided on a manual. And let me tell you, you don't even realize that you are hitting a button! It seems that my hand just automatically held the manual PV in such a way that it was effortless to hit the button and I didn't even know that I was doing it!
5. Oh my God, FDA ban? -PANIC-
A- Don't poop your pants just yet! I am very convinced that they are just going to regulate the liquids ingredients to their standards and maybe figure out some way to tax everything. In my opinion, which only just that- my opinion- I do not think that these are going to get outright banned. And I also think that it is going to take them a while to get everything figured out and find all of the loopholes that they can to make this all work in their favor.
If you have any more questions, be sure to check out all of the other threads here and watch the videos that the lovely people here have made. Also, if you want any questions answered from a "noobie" point of view, do not hesitate to shoot me a personal message and I will answer you there, or here! Heck if it's something that I think is very important for new people, I may even make a new thread on it since I am very long winded at times!
Once again, mods feel free to move this thread to anywhere else that you see fit.
