Let me start by saying that we were just introduced to vaping a few days ago by a friend. When my husband agreed to give it a try I IMMEDIATELY went and bought the equipment. I have been begging him to stop smoking for a couple of years. We were both smokers, but I knew I couldn't quit if I was still living with a smoker every day. He is doing quite well. I am having much more difficulty. It seems to cause me congestion problems, lung pain, sinus issues, etc. Maybe I have a PG Sensitivity. I hope not. This is how I got into trouble.

I learned very quickly through ECF that most vendors of ejuice are significantly cheaper than my local vendor ($1 per ml). So...of course...my occasional OCD kicked in. Once I realized that I could get ejuice from an online vendor for half that price, it was all but a done deal. I told him I was going to place an order. He told me to go ahead. Guess he should have asked more questions first. ;-)

I later told him that I had ordered 30 flavors and spent $200. He had what might be referred to as a slight conniption fit. He said I didn't ask "permission" to spend that much. Ha! I told him that I had never had to ask permission to buy cartons of cigarettes. He told me that I didn't NEED that much right now. I, of course, informed him that I bought it for HIM. He tried to say that I bought it all for US. In one of my very few quick witted moments, I told him that MY half was FREE! hehe. :p

Just wondering if anyone else gets a little obsessive compulsive when purchasing ejuice. Maybe I really do have a problem. Good thing he doesn't know that the next day I found a vendor that was offering 40% off on your first order...for a limited time, of course. We will just keep those 20 bottles our little secret.

Depending on how much you guys used to smoke, you could easily make up that $200 in a month. I wouldn't sweat it.

What size bottles are you buying? It's a good idea to start with smaller sizes, in case you really don't like the flavors.

I enjoy buying stuff in general. I spent about $400 in a week on new gear and juice supplies (I make my own, much cheaper). But I know I won't need to buy anything for at least the rest of the year. In 3 months I would have spent around $550 on smoking. During the holidays, probably more than that.

I won't tell you to calm down, it happens to most of us that stick with it. But search for your sweet spot. Once you find it, and you get into a groove, you'll be very happy you did!

I have been vaping only a short time and have spent more than I have saved, but I am not smoking cigarettes. I went from starter kit, to Ego-T to VV to Lavatube. I also think I am on the favorite customer list for every juice vendor in the world :) but I am not smoking cigarettes.

Once you find the right equipment and juice for your rotation your cost will drop greatly. You may want to try sample packs for juices to lower the cost of searching for your favorite juice.

I do not care how much I am spending right now on vaping, I am not smoking cigarettes and in the long run vaping will be much much cheaper on the credit card.

Did I mention I am not smoking cigarettes.. :)

P.S. Welcome to ECF. There is an Okie section also here in the forums.

Ejuice - no. Mods (APVs) - yes.

I have been vaping almost 3 years. MY wife tried it on a whim when I started (she still smokes). Recently @vapercon she is giving vaping another try. VG only, since the PG burns her throat. So, since I have pretty much 2 of every mod I like for a backup, she has one when/if the time comes she wants to use one...

there are some very nice posts and info about pg sensitivity and also vg issues, you bought alot of juice, but starting out i remember trying so many diffrent juices, try diffrent mixes as well since eliquid can be purchased in diffrent ratios, try more vg standard is 50pg and 50vg, I myself get irritated throat from to much pg so i vape 70% vg, and 30%pg...you have to try diffrent variations and see what works best for you

Yeah. I'm sure I went way overboard since I don't know what ratio works best for me. I bought basically everything at 50/50. I figure, in the event I have to change my ratios, my husband will be well stocked. I bought everything in 10ml bottles. Maybe not the smartest idea, but if I don't end up liking it (AND my husband doesn't end up liking it) we will pass it along to the friend that introduced us. Lucky him. ;-) Besides, the 40% discount that Lots Of Vapor was offering on first time orders this week was hard to pass up. Just wanted to get the most for my money. I'm willing to take the risk of not liking the vendor at that price. Their customer service was top notch, and I can always pass the product along if it doesn't work out for me. Could be a lot of money lost, but not nearly as much as I have wasted on smoking analogs.

The first year of vaping can be very expensive with the learning curve! Last year I'm sure I spent quite a bit more than I ould have on stinkies. As my banner shows, I think I'm ahead of the finances at this point. I have also found and built reliable, quality equipment, as well as finding and mixing all-day flavors at mixes and contents that suit me.

With that said, my beautiful wife has put her foot down a few times to remind me of the excessive spending I've gone through at times and kindly gotten me back on track to responsible spending. Luckily, just this past week, she asked how my supplies and such were stocked, and I was elated to tell her that with hardware and liquid supplies, I should be set for at least 6 months, unless I need to re-supply my DIY flavors (minimal expense).

Regardless of expense, I'm healthier and I don't stink. Our lives, together, has improved. That's priceless!

One thing I've learned .... don't shop for liquid when you're hungry! Those pictures will get you every time!

Seriously, most all of us have done it. I settled into my routine within 6 months. Now I only buy different flavors occasionally.
Best to you and hopefully it's not a PG allergy, but even if it is, there are vendors who sell 100% VG.

Kd did, I hope you find some juices in those orders that you really like. I would advise against ordering a lot of juices from any single vendor for a while. I made that mistake early on, and discovered that I just did not like something about a particular vendor's juices. Perhaps it's the PG and/or VG base they use.

In any case, it's safer to order 3 or 4 small bottles in a variety of juices that sound good to you. There's plenty of time to re-order if you like them.
