Here in NZ, for those who do not know, there is a government initiative to be a "Smokefree" country (less than 5% of the adult population) by 2025.

that being said, opened up the NZ Herald online and found this: Slime ciggies for war on smokes - National - NZ Herald News

Money better spent elsewhere on this? My old man smoked Mores & I would nick them. Brilliant. Idiots

back to your regularly scheduled programming....

Here's D Puddlecote's take on this development: http://dickpuddlecote.blogspot.co.uk/2014/05/poo-sticks.html

Please note that this is from New Zealand and not from The Daily Mash.

Public health researchers say the Government's next step after introducing plain packaging for tobacco should be to make cigarettes ugly by changing them to a dark green or brown colour which made young people think of "slime, vomit or pooh".

Note the "next step after introducing plain packaging." As in, "plain packs won't work, so we're already planning the next step."

And btw, I think whoever holds the copyright to Winnie the Pooh should sue that newspaper!

Hmmm, looks intriguing. Might actually start smoking again if my ciggies came in colors. ;)

Actually, one of the early ANTZ campaigns was to get colored cigarette papers prohibited, in the belief that they attracted smokers. That's why cigs have all been white for so long. And now.... heh

 so they think that making something that tastes like poo (for lack of a better word), resemble the color of poo, is going to magically make people want to stop using that something? .

I guess they never saw a cigar

... or a Baby Ruth....

When I would run out when visiting in Mexico, I would occasionally buy a pack of local smokes. A few years ago they started putting very graphic images of diseased lungs and decayed teeth on the packs. These were exaggerated and meant to shock ...

Early efforts were a bit off target, I remember one that showed a compound fracture of a leg bone. Sustained after a fall while lighting up, I suppose ...

It had the opposite of the desired effect. Young people would compete to see who had the most gross and disgusting warning pic on their pack ...
