I have been vaping on and off for about 6 months now.I kept going back to the occasional analogue due to the mantinence and upkeep of my devices. I love vaping because I love technology,I looove how I can get the satisfaction and blow smoke rings without the stink and cancer and a regular cig....I only have one vape shop here in Midlothian and I always find buying online better but less convenient. How do you all get passed the "damit my clearomizer is vaping and tasting like crap, I'll just go grab a pack of cigs" (my local vape store seems over priced too but I might be wrong)

I want to vape forever but for some reason I have a better time justifying, only to myself I might add, that a 7 dollars clearomizer and a 7 dollars bottle of juice is worse then spending 5 bucks of a pack that will last me a day!!!!

Help! Tell me I'm an idiot and explain how you guys made the 100% switch and justified the costs.. (my wife might be not helping when she sees my trips to the vape shop costing 15 to 20 bucks a visit...

Have two clearomisers. :) One clean and ready for when the other one needs cleaning. Backups is the key. Back up batterries, back up juice, back up clearos. Compare your vape shop prices with some online vendors - you may find you can save a bit.

One of the weakest links is not having enough Atties/clearomizers or whatever it is you are using, so simply stock up. Same for batteries.

When your PV doesn't work because your battery or atty is dead you might kick your dog. If you kick your dog your wife will toss you out of the house, If you get tossed out of the house you might end up on the street having to sell blood for a cheeseburger. Don't end up living on the street and selling your blood for a cheeseburger, always have enough atties and batteries!! (A backup PV or two is also a good idea)

You might want to start looking online as well. As $7 for a bottle of juice that better be a decent sized bottle at least!! Also look at things like the vivi nova, yes you pay more for it at first, but even if you buy premade heads, they are only a couple bucks each, that beats the hell out of $7 for 1 clearomizer.

And have you thought of any DIY for juice? I play it safe and buy my nic base already at the right pg/vg mix and at a safe to handle nic %, but even at that buying 250 ml of that and flavorings is less than $30 including shipping.

Collection as of 2 days ago. And you see the thinner taller bottle..15ml I think is 6 or 799 at my vape shop. The stumpy one is a friend of mine's DIY peach. I love the vivi nova. I just have a rough time explaining this stuff to my mrs....bigger upfront cost..but better savings.. Any good vendor recommendations? I'm probably in the market for a big bottle of juice and maybe 2 more vivis or something similar....tank...coil...vape....I'm not into cartos.

The price isn't horrible for a bottle. If I buy a single 30ml bottle from Mt Baker Vapor (who I've been using lately and highly recommend) it'll cost me $7.99 plus shipping. I usually get 3-5 bottles of liquid so shipping becomes less of an issue.

You can use the code "vaporfrombaker" to get 10% off, which is almost like getting free shipping if you buy a few bottles.

Take the cost of clearos, cartos, juice etc that you've spent in a month and divide it by 30. I'm willing to bet your "per day" cost for vaping is far less than the $5 per day smoking would cost you. I buy all my juices because I'm too lazy to mix, and replace 4 clearos per month whether they're still working or not. I'm looking at about $70 a month. that's a little over $2 a day. The cheap cigarettes are $8.63 where I am, so no brainer.

I may be the mythical unicorn of the ECF, but I do actually save a considerable amount of money by vaping. I have a bottom feeder mod that was $144- replacement batteries, DIY liquid (I know you can't but it's really not rocket science), and a new cart a week cost me about $200 a year. That's less than I would spend in a month with analogs.

There was an initial invesment finding my sweet spot- a few systems that didn't work out for me, and whatnot, but once I found my sweet spot I save a small fortune.

For me the key was finding the right juice. At least so far.

I started a week or so ago with an ego kit and some sample juice and it was OK but I didnt stop smoking. Two days later I went to another local shop here in town and found a juice that I thought was just amazing. Havent touched a cigarette since.

I agree with Jen. Your cigs per pact might be cheaper than they are here, but ultimately your costs will be cheaper with the e-cig. Find a good online vender, stock up on reasonable juice, clearo's can be picked up onsale, and batteries, or even better a decent mod. Then add it all up and divide by how long it all lasts.
But mostly, once your wife realizes you no longer smell(and taste)like cigarettes, she will be behind you 100%!

edit: you might want to up your nic level for a bit, that might help your urges.

I had the same problem. Until I found bloog. For switching over you need to find a combo that is almost as easy as smoking and tastes good. It seems weird to use a little bloog now since I'm used to mods and refilling stuff but you can't go wrong with a max fusion kit from them. They have some pretty good ry4 prefilled cartos too. The only downside is that all their stuff is kr808 so it won't fit any 510 batteries etc.

Honestly, is your wife happier with you taking risks with your health no matter the cost? If vaping (just assuming it is safer than smoking) cost 3 x of smoking cigarettes, I would still be vaping... 2 clearo + 100ml a month, that's probably $65 from a vendor. Cheaper if a juice vendor has a sale, you buy a lot.

Shop smart, just stock a month's supply initially and shopping online and waiting isn't critical anymore. While I support local businesses whenever I can, your situation may warrant using local store for emergency use. While everyone's situation and finances are different, we are literally talking a few bucks here and there vs. a whole lot of health issues or just something like no cigarette smell, which cuts down your cologne usage or just make yourself more presentable... If needed to appease your wife, just cut your spending somewhere... tell your wife you will bring homemade sandwich to work once a week instead of eating out or something.

I love you guys. You're all like a quit support group on tap, thank you.

A friend of mine is donating their Provari to me so I'm going to have (what I consider) a proMod, hopefully being used with my Nova tank it will solidify the whole deal.

My buddy in Ohio who DIYs is probably going to be my juice source.

Thank you all for the advice, any recommendations of nicer quality ViVi style tanks?

Edit : No she isn't Wasabi, it's just a case of she would rather me not smoke anything of any kind, vaping is a money sink. For me it's a lesser of two evils. As much as I'd love just to stop smoking as all of us know 9 outa 10 times it ain't that easy.

I dont want to sound cruel or uncaring but where wifey and vaping are concerned -

it might be wise for you to just get comfortable with her discomfort. "I love you wifey but i cannot make you feel better about this. I cannot make you understand. I dont want to hurt you and I know you do not want to hurt me. but your attitude does hurt me and so we are at an impasse. Lets agree to disagree and know we both want what is best for me. I am doing my best to save my health and its all baby steps."
