I quit analogs less than a month ago on 12/14. One of the things I loved about the idea of switching to vaping was all the money I would save.

Uh huh.

Total I've spent on e-juice and hardware in the last 3 weeks: $604.16.

Total I would have spent on analogs in the same time period: $150.00.

I'm just sitting here laughing. Hopefully I'll be able to make my little stockpile of juice and hardware last another 9 weeks without spending any more money, at which point I'll at least be able to tell myself that vaping isn't costing me any more than smoking did.

Love love love vaping and don't ever want to go back to analogs, but there are sure a lot of pretty toys and exciting flavors out there. I'm not sure that in my case that's a good thing.

With that much spent, I hope you at least have a couple of nice mods.

LOL! Go ahead, rub salt in the wound.

Nope, no mods. Just a lot of different juices, and an upgrade to a KGO after I realized that even after buying a handful of spare batteries, the 510 I started with wasn't going to cut it for me.

I also spent about $80 to send a starter kit and some supplies to a smoker friend who was interested in trying vaping, so I suppose that $80 shouldn't really be included in a cost-comparison total.

Yeah i can vouch for the same thing, so far ive spent £339.59 in 4 days that roughly equates to about....$530 so yeah totally agree in the 1st instance its expensive, but like everyone you have to get kitted out 1st! :)

I think ive found what i like now and have enough juice to last me a LONG time, the only thing i am lacking on is cartos but worst case i can use the tank on my tornado should i not be able to afford anything else. Its turning into a hobby for me at the moment thought and getting more and more appealing lol which i guess is why i dont think about spending money on it and just do it! :)

Anyways, good luck and i hope it gets cheaper along the way!

I think it's very important to not focus ONLY on the "out of pocket" start up costs, what IS your health worth to you? We Know what smoking does to health and even down the road it is an expense and one we vapors are likely to avoid. Add to that quality of life (smell much better, breath so much better/easier etc. etc. etc.)

Oh, I completely agree -- and should point out that my initial post was more just good-natured griping about my ability to turn anything into an obsession. I really don't regret a single penny I've spent on vaping, for exactly the reasons you pointed out. I am still amazed by the ease with which I walked away from analogs after I tried vaping, and absolutely thrilled about the benefits I've already reaped from giving up analogs.

...here in Casa da MJ, we were spending near 500bux/mo on funkarettes...we spent that in the first two weeks of making the switch...we held our expenses to that over the rest of the month to break even...since then, with a little fiscal discipline, we have been able to keep our expenses to around 20-25% of our previous expenses smoking the funkies so, you can make it pay of...eventually...........

That's good to know. I think I'm pretty much done as far as "start up" costs go...from here on in, I'm sure the expense will be mostly limited to juice, cartos and once-in-a-blue-moon battery replacements...those things will cost significantly less per month than I was burning on the stink-sticks.

Sorry, can you hear me chuckle? Every time I see these "money I am going to save" threads I do have to giggle a bit. Not at you. Eleven months ago I thought the same thing.......it took me 6 months to break even and that's only because I put the skids on spending. My biggest expense was on DIY flavors ($600.00) which sure made a dent in my "savings". Now that I have bit the bullet so to speak with DIY, I am now raking in the savings over analogs. It used to cost me about $5.00 per day to smoke and now to vape it's $.43 per day, big difference.

Hang in there, you will save, just not in the beginning!

Haha...uh-oh. I forgot about DIY juice. Another obsession/money sink I haven't explored yet but can definitely feel lurking around the corner. :)
