As a freelance computer technician I often pick up short-term contract jobs. Currently I'm doing server software updates for a national bank chain. Today I was working in a server room when I realized that my 510 started heating up in my pocket. I took it out and it was leaking juice out the threads. The cart filler had melted slightly and everything smelled like burnt macchiato. This happens to me on occasion; after wiping the unit off I took a few quick puffs to make sure it was still working properly.

Then I happened to look up and realized, of course, there's a security camera staring right at me, since I was standing in front of a bank's server rack.

I hope nothing comes of this!

I have a few thoughts.

1. For the sake of the customers of this "national bank chain", I hope someone monitors these cameras.

2. Maybe the individual who monitors the cameras is a vaper! He/she would probably get a good chuckle out of it.

3. In seriousness, I hope that if you are approached about this incident, that you will have a reasonable opportunity to explain what happened.

Thanks for sharing this story. You're not the first person to innocently pull out/use your 510 at a less than ideal moment.

Happy vaping and good luck! :toast:

Last night, same job at a different location, went a little differently.

I stepped outside to do my vaping, and upon returning one of the bankers asked me "Was that a cigarette?" I mentioned the e-cig and she was intrigued. As were the two ladies behind the teller counter. So, since it was about closing time and there were no customers, I went into a twenty-minute spiel. And wrote down a bunch of resources for them. Hopefully they'll show up here!
