As was discussed last week regarding the disclosure of the current administration's efforts to use fear & intimidation against legally operated businesses & the market place: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/media-general-news/583163-operation-choke-point.html

Now comes news that the House of Representatives is training a few spotlights of scrutiny on the practices: Lawmakers Throw Light on Secretive 'Operation Choke Point'

Is “Operation Choke Point” about to get choked by Congress? Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., sure hopes so.
Issa, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, is calling for the dismantling of what he calls a secretive initiative launched by the Obama administration in early 2013.

Encouraging...

They'll probably find a bunch of failed hard drives, no email backup and nobody that knows anything.

Does anybody know if Intuit's decision to stop handling a vendor's wholesale purchase banking was triggered by this? I have the impression that PayPal may have been pressured. Ebay probably just didn't want to do age verification. Unless they handle alcohol? Do they?

Not anymore. They used to sell wine, I know. Then it stopped.

"Operation Choke Point" has been going on for some time, it may have just gotten a name and expanded but it's nothing new. They used that against mp3's, online streaming, data storage, VPN's, online gaming, tobacco sales ... on and on. This is one of the chief complaints against Obama - "where's the change?" He's changed nothing but has carried on with the same old stuff.

And HSBC can launder drug money, no big deal.

Got a starting point? We should tell Dems the GOP started it and vice-versa!

How about John Adams' alien and Sedition Acts :)

Wiki:
The Democratic-Republicans made the Alien and Sedition Acts an important issue in the 1800 election. Thomas Jefferson, upon assuming the Presidency, pardoned those still serving sentences under the Sedition Act, though he also used the acts to prosecute several of his own critics before the acts expired. :D

Like I said here:

"And what happens if the administration changes? Now they'd also have a 'new tool'..... "
