So, here's the deal. I'm a heavy analog cig smoker - 20 or 30 cigs a day. I've been researching e-cigarettes for a few WEEKS now and I still have no idea which one might be best for me. Until I found this forum, I was going to buy a greensmoke, but people here seem to think that there are much better products out there. So, I was thinking that I would make a list of the features that are important to me, and I was hoping that the gracious forum members here would point me in the right direction.

Here are the features I would like:

  • Direct USB power. The greensmoke has a USB e-cig that you hook the atomizer up to instead of a battery. I really like this feature and I'm not interested in building my own. I would also like to be able to use it on battery power, but it's important to me to be able to just use the electricity from the wall.
  • TONS OF SMOKE. I want to quit analogs, so I want the experience to be as close to analogs as possible.
  • Dead Simple. The thing I liked most about the greensmoke was that I knew I would not need to change an atomizer (since they are included with each cartridge of e-juice.) I don't want to have to fiddle around with things.
  • Quality. I would like to buy something that is going to last me.
  • Established Brand. I don't want to be unable to get atomizers or cartridges down the line.
The last thing is that size doesn't matter. I am leaning towards a pen-style e-cig or greensmoke. So, now I need people's recommendations. I have no problem spending $100+ on a starter kit, but I need to know that I am getting a quality product. I just want a simple, great e-cig. I am so sick of smoking. I would like to buy something that gives me a real alternative to smoking, not a garbage toy that will break after a few weeks.

Go with the Vapor King from Vapor4Life.com I got the ultimate kit a while back and was very happy with it. The Vapor King uses the same two piece design as the Greencig but cost is much less. The throat hit is awesome with the Vapor king. The ultimate kit comes with a USB pass thru and two batteries also. I believe you can get a kit with a PCC (Personal Charging Case) also.

Here is the link directly to the item I am talking about..

Hope this helps you kick the habit. It sure helped me. My last analog was July 1st. Good Luck...

EDIT: Just checked the site and it appears that he only has Green batteries on the big kit only The others are ok and you can choose any color battery... Sorry.. You could also try Cigeasy.com I don't see the USB pass thru on his site though. You could always order a USB from V4L separately. I get my cartomizers from CE because that is the cheapest place I found at 7.95 for 5 of them.

801.. dead simple, cheap parts, king of vaper..

I would forget carts, or just use one to keep the atty wet when you drip. That a cart is equal to 50 smokes is a load of crap. To a heavy smoker like yourslef, a cart is equal to 1 extra lite. Dripping will get you the vaper your want and NEED.

From all the reviews I've read, and my own experince, you don't have to spend over $50 bucks on a starter kit. All the kits that are over that price are not a better deal, but fancy packaging on an inferior product.

Its a 801 battery with a "cartomizer" on it. Meaning you have to keep buying the carts. At $12.50!!!! for 5 carts???? Ouch...

So an 801 kit from china is 30 bucks, you would rather spend 89 on the same thing cept it only acepts expensive carts?

I'd have to say the Vapor King from Vapor4Life.com. My first e-cig was a 3 piece model, and it was just before the VK came out. It helped but I was still smoking analogs too (smoked about a pack a day for 40 yrs). Once I ordered the VK, that was it for me. I haven't had an analog since 4/13/09...Of the few models I've tried, the VK gives the best throat hit and awesome vapor.

I will say there's a bit of a learning curve switching from analogs to PV's but well worth the effort IMHO.

Steve (V4L) has the most awesome customer service as I'm sure you've already read here. He goes so above and beyond it's not funny.

Try different flavors. You might be surprised. I wanted it to look and taste like an analog when I first started. That was more important to me than anything...now after using it for a while. I could care less what it looks like and I want it to taste good...my daily vape is now coffee (and I don't like or drink coffee) and I prefer batteries that don't have an orange/red led. I'd rather have people come running up to me saying "WTF is that thing?" rather than "YOU CAN'T SMOKE IN HERE ! ! !".

Good luck in your search :)

Oh, and btw, all KR808D-1's are not created equal. There is a difference in V4L's model and their carts taste different (better) too.

You do know that you can Refill the cartomizer right? I have had some last longer than those 801s... Plus this guy said he doesn't want to fiddle with anything... Simple is not the 801 sorry

From VK site:

6) How do I refill the Vapor King?

The easiest way to refill the Vapor King is to drip several drops of juice into the battery connection end (10-15 drops) and then let it sit for several hours. The performance of the cartomizer will decrease over time (3-4 refills). If the cartomizer gets too hot you can pop the cap at the opposite end off (using a pick or any other instrument that will fit) and re-centering the heating element.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

that doesn't sound simple to me..

At $12.50 for 5 carts I think I'll pass. I don't even need to try it at that price.

Heck a Rolls might be a good car, but my Chev gets me to the same place for far less money. I don't need to take the Rolls for a test drive to know that.

You can get them for 7.95 at cigesasy and you are getting a new atomizer with every one. And they are refillable easily... more easily than those leaky 801 are. Plus they don't waste nearly as much juice as the 801 does... You should try one You might just like it.

Ripped off from another post.

Would the following, then, a good estimate of my monthly cost?

$10/five-pack = $2/cartomizer ( at VK site)
$2 * 3 = $6/pack
Pack-and-half-a-day smoker: $6/pack * 1.5 packs/day = $9/day...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'll give you the 801 are leaky till you get the hang of them. But I fail to see how they waste anything, if you are dripping. Its carts that waste e-juice, not dripping (as long as you don't flood it and it runs out).

You can't drip with the cartomizer, so for that reason alone, I say it is more expensive, and personally, even if they vaped great, I would still stay away.

that just me. Call me super cheap, but I'd rather spend less than i was when I was smoking.

I just find it odd that someone who has never tried something knows so much about it. There is no need to drip because the cartomizer goes for hours without refilling. They wick every bit of juice from the filler and they are THE MOST convenient e-cig made today. You should try one... You might just like it..

And I have used the same cartomizer for three weeks.. Longer than I have had 801s last.

I find it odd that all of the support for this model comes at once, and 2 of the supportes just happend to have a huge VK banner.

BS on it going for hours without refilling, you are starting to sound like e-smokeing.

It says on their site 15 drops to refill the thing. Fine. To me 3 drops, dripped is 1 smoke (and no its not leaking down my hand, and if it wasn't being all vaped, my 801 would be getting mighty ful by now). So 15 drops if the thing sucks the cart dry is 5 smokes. Not my idea of going "hours", but hey you might be a light smoker.

Better yet, at 5 smokes per cart, this guys is going to need 5 carts to make it through the day, if he was a pack a day smoker. $7.48 to $12.99. Dunno, about you but I don't have $224 to 389 to spend on carts each month.

Remeber the OP said he was a heavy smoker...

You don't expect happy users of the VK to recommend it? Or should we satisfied customers keep quiet about our preferences?

I go on mine for hours without refilling all the time. The longest I've gotten out of a cartomizer is about 8 hours, and I'm not a "light smoker". Usually I get 3-4 hours of semi-steady vaping out of 1 cart. This, of course, will vary from person to person. I had a 510 first and I hated it. Too much fussing and fiddling. I don't want to have to take my PV apart to add more juice every 4th drag.

It says on their site 15 drops to refill the thing. Fine. If you don't mind fiddling with your e-cig, then more power to you. Some of us want a more plug-and-play PV. The VK fits that description.

There is no way to accurately determine how many "smokes" one will get out of a cart. It all depends on how heavy you vape and how long your drags are. Refilling carts saves a LOT of money, and it takes me about 2 minutes to refill a cart. I usually do about 10 at a time. No big deal.

Remeber the OP said he was a heavy smoker...
So was I.
