Looking to get a new mod, and wanting to shop at a B&M not online. Looking for something round that fits the hand better than my current iTaste MVP but with a longer battery life then ego style. The stores around me have the SVD, the Telsa and the Lavatube. What guys and girls are you opinions on each.

Along with that, what are your thoughts on cartomizer vs clearomizers?

I have no personal experience with any device you listed but during my research, it seems that I read about some issues with the LavaTubes having issues with error codes. Again, no personal experience, just what I read- as always, YMMV.
I like the Kanger Protank and purchased one for each battery since most juices I buy/make will crack plastic tanks.
Sorry that I can't be of any real help to the specific products you listed.

i've never owned any of those mods, so can't really speak to them. some love them, some not so much. out of the three, though, i think i've heard the most praise for the lt.

if you go with cartomizers, you'll probably want a carto tank if you don't want to be refilling all day. carto's perform beautifully once set up right, but are more fidgety than clearo's.

clearomizers are probably the best choice for ease of use - just fill it up, screw it on, and vape. most of the big name clearo's nowadays (evod, iclear 16/30, vivi nova, etc.) perform very well, but most people still do tend to prefer the flavor from a carto.

Well, my first question is what are they asking for each of those? if its a fair price (in other words, do your research online... some B&M notoriously crank prices up beyond a simple "markup")...

The Lavatube has been around the longest of those three,(and I've heard about the error issues as well with them) if I'm not mistaken, then the SVD, then the Tesla... I only know a little bit about the SVD myself personally... If you're looking for a mod that will perform comparably to the MVP, then I'd say any of the bunch are fine (though I personally am not a fan of the Tesla's design). If you're looking for a "big increase" in performance, I don't think any of those will really offer all that much.

For a little bit more than what I am assuming you're spending at the B&M, you can get an E-VIC... which has a ton of bells and whistles, and by all accounts may perform much better than an MVP... I dunno...Its really what you're after in your vape.

Same goes for the clearo vs. carto question... it depends on the device. I'm a big fan of EVOD clearos, but not so much of the protanks....Iclears are good, but I didn't like the vivi novas...others swear by the devices that I didn't care for.

Cartos, I prefer Boge, others prefer the smoktech. IF, and I do mean IF you can get them, Ikenvape cartos ARE awesome though.

Hopefully there was some help in there, but sadly, each vaper is different and will like different things.

Thanks for the replays, I was mostly looking to see what other people thought. I know he all day vap is to each their own, but still thought I would get opinions on the items.

Picked up an SVD, a Kanger EVOd, T3, kanger protank, and the SVD came with the 30s. So that gives me quite a bit to play with along with the juice I picked up. Rainbow surprise is pretty good (skittles), of course I got more of my rum and cola(different juices from two different B&M see which is better), and a surprise one for me Mr. Pepper(loved it from first vap, took it in with me when I watched the Wolverine tonight). Also picked up lemon drop but have not had time to test that one out yet.

Good choice IMHO.The SVD is a winner. I went from an MVP to an SVD myself for the same reason as you did....holding it in my hand, the SVD feels better. Nothing wrong with the MVP......a hell of a device.

I like the Protanks ( I have 8 of these) over all of the ones you just bought, but that's just my preference. I've used everything you just bought. They all have their good and bad points.

If I may suggest a tremendously fantastic set up ....Better taste/flavor and satisfaction than your tanks and my favorite Protank.

Get an IBTanked XL 19 or 22 MM complete carto tank (25 bucks) and (first choice) of 3.0 Ohm mega / xL 510 punched cartos from Ikenvape ( when they are in stock as they sell out quickly) Second choice would be the Smoktech punched cartos.

I have read much on these forums about the Boges and heard they USED to be great....but have read recently that they have been a bit hit or miss recently. My Boge comment is not first hand experience but rather from reading a lot of recent posts, so take it for what its worth, just second hand knowledge.

Opps, I see you bought a Protank. If you enjoy the Evod and Protank, Might I suggest you clean your coils/heads every couple of days....also when you buy replacement heads, try to get the 1.8 ohm coils. I prefer them myself.

Save your heads as they go bad, you will want to get into rebuilding later and you can easily make them vape better than the new ones. Its easy to do.....do a Youtube search.

Hi,

I have been vaping for 9 months and have tried a whole lot of different hardware! Please note that a lot goes into what one ultimately ends up using on the hardware side of the vaping equation. 100% of what you will hear is some combination of objective comparisons and personal preference so I do not mean to offend anyone on this forum by making what would seem absolute statements! With that said here is my opinion:

1) Battery MOD -- I use the ProVari from Provape. I am not sure if any B&M stores carry this line but may be worth a check. If you can locate someone who will be willing to order this for you I would HIGHLY recommend buying one! You WILL NOT be disappointed even if you may need to buy it online. Whatever you do, I suggest getting something that allows for voltage and/or wattage adjustments and preferably in .1 volt increments. The Lavatube Ver 2 is a nice MOD, no doubt but I have no experience with it.

2) The Clearomizer/Cartomizer debate continues to rage on!!! I will keep it short: I am not a member of the cartomizer camp......I find them and the tanks that they belong to cumbersome to deal. Should you choose to try them out I have read that the Cisco HH 357 Long Barrell is perhaps one of the best. As far as clearomizer choices there are many (as are many cartos). I think before deciding which of the many possible clearomizers to choose you should answer one important question: Do you like bottom-coil clearomizers or top-coil clearomizers. Therein lies the two main overriding divisions among the clears. I love the Bottom-Coil Clearomizers. The Kanger T3, Kanger ProTank I (and now newly released II) are examples of this category. I absolutely love the ProTank II and recommend you looking into getting one to try out. You should also invest in a couple of top-coil units (Vivi Nova or Vision CE4 as examples).

Hope this helps,

Best

Lave Tube, Tesla or SVD? Probably SVD. I like it. Slightly better than the Vamo, imho. It does telescope. Nice feature. Prefer the Sigelei telescope. I like Stainless steel personally (you asked for opinions). The Tesla looks nice and performs well, but it's a very light aircraft aluminum. Great if you want light, but opposite if you want stainless steel. SVD is stainless. Lava Tube is well built, very thick, and not variable wattage. All three have Ohm meters, a big plus over the MVP, imho. Not sure is the Lava Tube ever fixed their code 82 error that plagued the device earlier this year. Lotsa posts about this. Probably any of them will work for you, comes down to your personal preference about features and form factor. In the <$100 price range, the New Sigelei V5 has my vote. Feature rich, well built, stainless, telescopes, OLED screen, etc. Seems to combine the best features of the MVP, the SVD and the Vamo. Very nice. Highly recommended. My two cents.

Edit:

Cartomizers vs. Clearomizers. Clearomizers are a good place to start because they're easy to use, though an effort to maintain, and inexpensive. Cartomizers are a bit of an effort to setup, though not that difficult, and provide a better vape in both vapor and flavor, imho. We're talking right out of the box, btw.
