So with Christmas essentially right around the corner, I was thinking about making the switch from standard cartomizers into tanks/clearomizers. I was on MBV and found this kit, which I'm sure a lot of people have already seen:

Beginner Starter Kit - Mt Baker Vapor - Electronic Cigarettes

My 'rents have been pestering me for Christmas present ideas and I was thinking about just putting one of those down. I figured my first clearomizer experience wouldn't be a total wash since I'm not actually paying for it. That, and I know that a lot of people speak highly of Kanger products, as well as having not read too many negative things about smok products. But anyway, ideas? If anyone happens to have any better, comparably priced set-ups, I'd be more than happy to hear about them!

I would look at a good glass tank-carto set-up myself. Much less hassle and much more consistent. With one like a Phiniac you can custom order it with your own inscription, etc. They never leak and they send you a second set of seals at no cost. I've been using the original set of seals for over a year:

I am New to vaping so really don't know what I am talking about lol :)

Just wondering if you might want a bigger battery? Maybe a 1100mAh or 1300mAh. And what do you think about variable voltage?
There's the Smoktech 1300mah eGo Winder VV Battery and I have a Joytech eGo C-Twist 1100mAh VV but I really don't know anything about them.

These just some questions to ask yourself before spending $45.

I just want to experiment, especially if, like I said, it's a gift and I don't have to pay for it, you know?

Hey, look, it seems like you could get 2 VV battery, 2 amazing BDC atomizer, 1 charger, for around 50$.

Would that be the recommended route in your opinion? Buying the individual, I mean. I found this on VapeDojo:
Kanger Evod Starter Kit

It's considerably cheaper than the ProTank kit that pufZepplin mentioned. Is there that drastic of a difference between the Evod tanks and ProTanks? The Evod kit is only $35 as compared to the ProTank kit's price tag of $60. At $35 dollars I could just purchase one and not worry about having to wait to ask for one for Christmas.

Although the Evod kit is FV and not VV... Guess that has to be taken into account.

That Mini Protank II kit is a great deal. Having a glass tank is nice so you don't have to worry about if a flavor of juice will crack the tank, as some flavors will. Also having a VV battery is great for really dialing in the performance of your clearo and juice. Having said that the evod kit is also a great deal, that 3.7v battery should push any clearo 1.8-2.5 ohm pretty good with the vape getting cooler as the ohms go up. You can't dial it in as well but its still going to be a good vape. Just make sure you don't put a tank cracking juice in the evod as it has a plastic tank. A EVOD and PT II vape very similar and even use the same replacement heads. I like both of them alot and the PT II can be used with the evod kits battery if you want to add one later. These 2 kits are some of the best deals on a kit out there right now IMHO.

Thank you for the opinion, Hugh. They (vapedojo) also has a kit that comes with one eVod tank, an eVod battery and a charger for $14.99. I figure if I get that and like it, I can always order another tank (or three) and battery later on. How does that sound for the price? It's basically the same thing as the eVod starter kit that's $34.99, but without the extra battery, tank and heads.

Plus, if I ever decided to go with the PT II, I could always snag an Evo/510 adapter.

Random thoughts.
