Opinions on high vg liquid?

Hi all,
most of the juices I have are 50/50. Today I purchased a couple that are 80/20 vg pg content. I've heard that tanks like the evod can't handle these, that they gunk up the coils too much, and that my best option would be one of my nautilus tanks. But on the internet, there are people saying they can vape high or max vg liquids in any tank! Your thoughts?
Thanks

I agree that Vg is significantly denser in viscosity than Pg, and may pose problems with wicking with certain juice delivery devices.

I happen to prefer a higher Vg eliquid. It produces more vapor and IMO no or little drop off in flavor. Pg causes too much throat hit for my current tastes. So, after nearly 3 years of vaping I'm using a 80/20 Vg/Pg ratio, or 100% Vg with mg nicotine in my e-liquids when given the choice.

Having said that, I'm using rebuildable drippers or tanks now. Clearomizers and cartotanks (and their factory made wicks) would likely have wicking issues with the high Vg I'm currently using. I'm using cellucotton or Chinese cotton in my rebuildables.

Like Baditude I also use high vg, usually 20/80 or 10/90 pg/vg ratios, while I do drip most of the time, I have no problems with the high vg juices in bottom coil tanks such as the evod, protank, or aerotank.

What normally gunks up the coils, is too much flavoring, sweeteners, and dark juices such as coffee or most tobaccos. That isn't just those coils either, they will gunk up any coil.

Hi, theBigPicture, and welcome to ECF! As you can see from the replies to your question, there are lots of helpful, very experienced vapers here, and they're always happy to help. I vape mostly 60/40 or 70/30 (Pg/VG); like Baditude, I find the throat hit from higher PG juice a little harsh. I did have issues when I used certain clearos; I switched to Nautilus tanks and had no problems. Now I, too, use coils that are wicked with cotton (both stock and those I build), and they can handle anything :)

I have used high VG/100 VG my entire vaping career and it's never presented a problem in a PT, EVOD, T3s, MT3, PT2 mini etc. The biggest problems people seem to run into with BCC clearos are running them too hot and vaping the wick dry faster than it can take up more liquid - of any PG/VG ratio. Or sucking on them too hard and too long - which causes leaking, gurgling and flooding - again nothing to do with the PG/VG ratio.

Hi, New poster here. If you find that the 80/20 mix is to thick, you can either pull a few threads of the flavor wick out (on bottom coils and from top part of wick only, or go to the e-liquid calculator at http ecigvape dot com. and figure out how much Everclear PGA or distilled water to add to thin it. Start with a 3% dilution. Stick with the most clear non-colored e-liquids you can to help minimize the gunk build up, When you begin to detect a burned flavor or start to lose draw on a full charge, time to dry burn your wicks. Rinse your coil and pull apart. Soak in alcohol for a few hrs and then rinse with distilled water and let dry. This helps to remove any burned taste in the coil wick after dry burning. Then put in a new flavor wick. YouTube for the all how to's for your kind of coil. I use a Protank with both Kanger and SmokTech coils (mod has spring pin) and make my own juice at a 40/60 pg.vg mix. How much flavor wick to replace depends on the viscosity of your liquid. It is a balancing ace and you will get the hang of it pretty quick. In the beginning I had gurgles. A LOT of gurgles and leaks. Almost quit vaping. Almost! Have not had a gurgle or leak since I learned how it all works and what to do to fix it. Good Luck. 439 days analog free and $1200 richer.
