The only juice I really like enough for an ADV is Johnson Creek's domestic tobacco, and it's 100% VG and very dark/thick. My first tank, the EVOD2, didn't work at all with this liquid. I upgraded to a Protank 2 and that worked pretty well, but would leak and gurgle after a while. Finally I found the Mini Protank 2 works perfectly with this really thick juice. I have also found generally that single coil attys (Protank 2, Mini Protank 2) work better with thick VG juice than dual coil ones (EVOD2, Aerotank, Mini/Protank 3).

As for the people that say they can get high VG juice to work in any tank, I'm guessing they rebuild their own coils. If you can rebuild your coils yourself you can adjust the amount of wick to allow for thicker juices to flow. You generally need less wick for thicker juice. Also, diluting a real thick juice with distilled water or a bit of PG juice can work as well.

My daughter and I use Kanger single coil tanks, and generally us 50/50 eliquids. My daughter recently discovered an eliquid brand that she really likes (Strife) at a nearby B&M that is 70 vg/30 pg. So far, we have had absolutely no problems with this eliquid in our tanks - maybe the coils don't last quite as long, but, then again, we both like sweeter/darker eliquids, so there is no real appreciable difference in coil life to us.

As others have said, if you think the eliquid is too thick for your equipment, just thin a bit with distilled water. If I have to dilute an eliquid, I just do a drop or two at a time right in the tank.
