Opinions wanted...heat coloring :)

Last night I was feeling rambunctious and decided to try my hand at heat treating my Chi You. I really like the way it turned out, but want to hear opinions.

I think it looks good. Can't see the small picture that well. Looks like you got more color on the bottom than on the top.

Looks good to me too but the small pic probably isn't doing it justice.

Clean all parts really well and use a lint free cloth to dry them. I used a propane torch, but am going to try something different with another mod tonight. It can be done in an oven, too. With the torch, I just slowly heated the pieces all over and when it started to change, I focused on certain areas at a time. I'm going to try the oven way. 550 degrees should get it to a light blue which would be cool.

You're having way too much fun with that. My electric oven on self clean permanently changed the color of my racks inside. That oughta work great for you!

what else are mods for... blow torches and ovens.. acid baths and more...

you can even spray some clear satin lacquer over it , to maintain that beautiful finish..

I'm not a huge fan of heat treated metals.
If someone were to do something along the lines of this though I think it would be nice.
Just the tip of the mod with the rest being the original metal.
