I have my wicks about half way down in the channels and have not had any leaks or dry hits yet. Working great with lots of flavor. I really think it being short helps with flavor also.
All of my rta's with an Orchid style deck have a little bit of wick in the juice channels with the rest just above it. I never have wicking or leaking issues.

I just put a single 24g 8/7 wrap on 2.5 mm in the Aqua 2, a really nice warm flavorful vape at 25W.

I had a bad leak yesterday on one of my Orchids. First bad leak with these. It kept pouring out the air holes. Took it apart and found the wicks were not in the channels on both sides. I guess when I screwed the chimney on, it grabbed the wick ends and opened the channels. I was trying to use larger diameter coils and I guess I used too much Rayon. I trimmed it up and all is good again.

So recently my all day favorite 50/50 juice was discontinued and I replaced it with an 80vg mix that had a tough time wicking in my Orchids... couldn't keep up at all. If anyone is looking for a quick and easy fix, this is it. The juice channels are actually a lot bigger than the tiny entrance hole that's restricting it from entering.

Bye bye dry hits. :vapor:

Incidentally, I did the same thing with my Lemo2 (only two notches needed there though), also with perfect results.

I have the V4 of the orchid and I only build single coil and yes it can be done with no leaking. When you do your coil even if it's dual coil have the cotton tapper down in the juice channel but make sure you don't pack the channel with cotton, I just thin mine out until it almost touches the end of the juice channel. Just be careful of the insulator as they are not heat prone and are a B*tch to replace trust me as mine started melting and I had to replace 2 of them on 2 tanks. I don't even vape at high watts and I don't sub ohm. I usually build at 1.2 - 1.4 and those insulators are crap. Mine is a tobecco brand. I retired mine as I have 2 authentic Squape R and 2 Aquas V2 and they are easier to build and fill and no needle to fill. I also went that route as if something is wrong with my build I can rebuild without draining all my juice. I can try to post pics of a orchid build if you need me to.But would have to take them out of retirement :)

Before I got my Silverplay Nano I was vaping Orchid V3 single coil and LOVED the vape. I plugged the unused juicd wells with coygony and it was a great setup for me.

Then I got the Silverplay Nano with better flavor and I adopted the little orphan out.
