The problem with the bottom fill method isn't leaking. It's the liquid being too slow to seep past the chimney. Trying to fill it with anything more than 50%VG and it takes way too long to fill (nearly 10 min with my 70%VG juice).

Some people can't tolerate that slow filling so their "solution" is to remove the top cap. The problem with that is flooding the chimney. There's a tedious (and still not foolproof) way to minimize the leak using that method, but why bother, when the real solution is a $5 refillable top cap?

ok, my wording was confusing on my last post. what I mean is that this does not work on my v4 orchid because the chimney is too short. have you used this yet on the v4? on the FT forums someone suggested using an o-ring under the chimney to raise it up a little or use one of the two metal rings from the nano kit if using the 3 piece tank with clear section in the middle.

Yeah, it fit fine on my V4, the stack-up was perfect and the chimney seated up against the O-ring at the exact height that the original top-cap did. I'm not sure what's going on with your chimney. According to FT's website it should be 32.3mm long. See if yours is the right length. While you're at it, maybe your deck is somehow the wrong thickness. I'd compare dimensions versus what they list on their website. Maybe you inadvertently mix/matched some kayfun parts that changed the original stack-up.

I probably should have added more information in my above post. When I got my Orchid I HATED it. It was a PITA. A ..... to build and it leaked. I swear I wasted 12mls of juice figuring it out. Then, I got a bit more into coils while it sat in a stand and then I figured out a Big Dripper and a 454 Big Block and and then I went back to the Orchid and I built it and it hasn't leaked since.

I came here and posted a thread about wanting to throw it through the window at first and I got some advice here on the build, the wicking and the juice channels and I figured it out.

I love it now although it's still a bit complicated with this unit. The nic level has to be really low (2mg) and then I can use it for a few hours as it's pretty hard core. :0

Haha,i remember those posts about throwing it,glad to hear you got it figured out.I've been in that situation a few times with mine, not because of the orchid, but because of not getting my wicks the right density,i've been using rayon for several months and still have times where i'm way off,so i know your pain, but as you see it gets better haha.

Wicking seems to be the 'key' with the Orchid I think anyways. It sure was for me. I started off with a Russian and then got a T5. It's awesome. My favorite is hands down the Big Dripper but the Orchid is getting to be a keeper now that I'm used to it. I bought a 454 Big Block copper dripper and it looks great on the slug although now I realize that I don't like dripping so have only built it a couple of times. That is a nightmare to build. I never did vertical coils before. The Orchid is a great vape for me and I haven't had any issues with leaking after I got over the learning curve with wicking it.

I'm trying a crazy colored juice called Jolly Rancher Watermelon.

Started with a Russian and a couple of Taifuns, (after PT and Nautilus)Russian never leaked , the Taifuns did but managed to sort it. Same with the Orchid have a V3 and V4. Get the wicking right and they are great bits of kit. Use DIY juice at 50/50 18mg and flavor/ vaper is spot on. Not had to lower it so after reading all the comments on the forum think some things wrong but means i don't have different mixes depending on the tank.

There is a learning curve for sure with the Orchid, in all its versions. I just got a V4 and it took a little experimentation to figure out how much wick to use (density) and its length in relation to the build deck.

I found, at least with this clone from FastTech, the stainless poly, its easy to overwick it the first time if you're used to a traditional Kayfun build. You have to resist going too dense or too long. I found as a general rule if I can slide the wick back and forth through the coil and I use the edges of the build deck as a guide for length, it seems to work well. The other problem is to not overfill it - it does need a couple of mm of airspace to maintain enough vacuum to keep the juice from flowing down through the air holes.

One annoyance I found with this clone was the bottom fill hole alignment was poor - the tank body blocks a substantial part of the hole when screwed on and its a bugger to fill. I drilled it out on an angle such that I can get the metal syringe tip in now but its still a slow fill. Other than that, its probably in my top 5 favorite tanks to vape for flavor and vapor production.

Its finicky but worth the trouble to figure it out.
