So I've been vaping about two months. Have tried 4 mods, and a few clearomizers. Currently using a black provari mini with a nautilus, which I'm thrilled with. However I've heard so much about the kayfun, russian, etc. And although I've never wrapped a coil, I'm ready for the challenge. I probably should have started with a less expensive option, but bought impulsively this evening. Damage is done.

Basically I have two quick questions.
Has anyone ordered from Vapor dna?
Does this Russian 91 "polished" sound ok?

make that 3.
... think I'll need 28 kanthal and organic cotton. Would that be best, or should I use something else?

heres the link. Hope this works.
VaporDNA Edition Russian 91% Polished Atomizer

thanks for any assistance.

The Russian 91 is an excellent RTA - you chose well.

Now, do your homework (if you haven't already). Learn about battery use/safety and everything about building coils (especially regarding Ohm's Law, shorts, hotspots, and specific issues for your model tank).

I'd suggest you start with a nice 1.2-ish ohm microcoil with cotton (with your 28 gauge, you're looking at about 8-9 wraps around a 1/16th inch drill bit).

You will not regret this purchase.

Hi, I own a Kayfun Lite a 3.1 and Kayfun Lite Plus and a Russian 91% and it is hard to tell the difference. I use 28ga. Kanthal wire and Lily Sugar & Cream Yarn. I use eight wraps on a 1/8 drill bit it 1.8 ohms. Great taste and the you can clean and reuse the coil and change the yean. Must sure you have good batteries and no shorts.

I didn't want to spend time & money going and getting replacement carto's constantly so I jumped in feet first with a Kayfun Lite+, almost identical to the Russian 91%. My first coil was a disaster, but re-watched some YouTube tutorial videos and tried again, built a 1.7 ohm 7 wrap coil using 30ga Kanthal. I'm extremely happy with the taste and vapor production I'm getting from my setup. I've not tried silica or yarn, just the organic cotton I picked up at the local CVS, so I can't comment on other wicking materials. I don't think you can go wrong with a KFL or Russian.

Ha! you'll have to keep me posted on how it works out for you too!

Def will, should be arriving in about 4 days...hopefully sooner lol. A little off topic but I just built my first micro coil with 28 gauge 4 wraps at .9 ohms on my svd on the igo-w and it's working like a champ so died can't wait to try it out on the russian!!!

I started vaping on my Kayfun 3.1 here last week and it's night and day. The KF, KF+, Russian and R91 are all fairly similar with just minor design differences. They're all excellent RBA's and you'll be happy with them, the flavor is out of this world. It's basically as good as an RDA, but without the need for constant dripping. I love mine enough that I'll prolly pick up a R91 and a KFL+ here too.

As for the polished, you might actually like it. I find the brushed look doesn't match (well) any of my mods, the polished look might coordinate a bit better with things. Only drawback I see is more fingerprints...but so what?

Building on them is remarkably easy, there's hardly anything to mess up. Just make sure your coil clears the deck, you get a nice inside-out burn, you don't have any obvious hot spots and your resistance is good/stable...with that, you'll be fine. I use boiled sterile cotton in mine, mainly because I don't have a specific ADV and do change out flavors every so often...and that's easier with cotton wick and a micro-coil. I use 28GA Kanthal mostly and that's a good, solid gauge that will do very well for most micro-coil builds in the 1.2-1.8 ohm range. There's plenty of videos out there for build ideas...it "seems" harder than it is, but it's really quite easy when you get to it.

Good luck with your new R91!

I agree, at first it seemed so hard and intimidating but after my first 10 or so builds I got the hang of it and now it just takes me 5 minutes to build one. I felt foolish for thinking that it was rocket science :p plus ECF has helped me sooooo much!

So the russian came and I must say it is performing like a champ with 1.4 micro coil anywhere after 12.5 watts the vapor is so warm and just chucks out a cloud thanks to the air flow control. I thinks it's well worth the money. Also with the cotton the vapor AND the flavor is really good. Hope you enjoy it as much as I am.. Happy vaping!!!

Edit: forgot one more thing, when your filling the tank be careful not to flood it so best thing is to fill it just a bit above the tank window.
