I used to smoke regularly when I was younger, then tamed it to just smoking socially, or rather, only smoking when I would drink...Hello, my name's Clifton, and I'm an alcosmoker.

My fiance, however, smokes about a pack every two days.

The other week, I noticed my neighbor smoking this weird thing, so I asked him about it.

He told me it was an e-cigarette. I was intrigued. He let me take a hit and to my surprise, it was like a real cigarette! Wow! I started asking more questions about it and found out it was a Joye 510, shipped from China.

I went home and started doing research.

A LOT of research.

This forum(and some other places) has been a great for learning about it all!

I've learned all about pv's, pt's, pg and vg. vaping, charging, dripping and dipping. Attys, cartos, boxes and bridges and tips, mods, ohms and volts...not to mention all the dollar-deals, weekly-specials, sample-packs and shipping-specials!

And this is just in the past four days!

So, armed with a bit of knowledge about the e-cig, I made my first order :)

I REALLY wanted to get a hello 016(that thing seems awesome!), but also didn't want to get ahead of myself.

So I ordered the ultimate starter kit from vapor4life.

My fiancee is moving here from Australia in a few weeks and I just wanted to get her something to start on that was hassle free, yet really good, and the vaper king kr808 seems like a good choice.

I also ordered some juice from freedomsmokeusa: Wyatt Earp, RY4, Cappucino, and Hopscotch.

Got some 0mg for myself and an 18mg along with a 12mg for my fiancee.

I'm looking forward to it! :)

Btw, how many 0mg vapers are there here, anyway? Do many people just start this on 0mg for fun, or am I the oddball? lol

Welcome aboard Clinton,

Looks like a pretty good start to me. I used a Kr8 from V4L for awhile and really enjoyed it. The only reason I switched to the Riva was for the longer battery life. You also got some good juices to start with as well. Wyatt Earp is my all day vape currently. If it seems a little peppery at first just let it steep for 3-4 days then try it again, trust me.

I bought the exact same kit when I first started.... which was only the end of July. You will probably find that if you enjoy vaping and want to stick with it that you will probably try out other types as well. I currently alternate between the V4L kit and a Riva. The V4L cartomizers work well if you are out all day or working. For me, they travel nicely and are great to put together for quick breaks or lunch. The Riva is my baby at home. Longer battery life like Motorpsychle stated and with a drip tip, the flavors really come out. It's relaxing at the end of a day. It's good that you are starting with bottles of liquid. Cartomizers run out way quicker than the manufacturers say and in the long run, you will save a lot of money by reusing the cartos you have. Good luck to you and your fiancee. :toast:

I ordered my Kit from Vapor4life too! I got the Mini Kit though not the ultimate one. Wish I had gotten that because since then, I have bought most of what would have come in that kit. I Really like V4L, I have ordered 2 more batteries and the USB pass through and all my juices from them so far. I don't use the 0mg juices though, I like a good Throat hit so I use the 36mg myself, but I also smoked 2 packs a day too. But 4 moths so far and not one single smoke. I have saved a bunch of money and I feel better too. I think you made a good choice!!!

Awesome. Good to know that what I ordered is ecf approved :)

I decided to order that stuff after my friend that has the joye 510 actually gave me an atomizer and a blank cart...and I bought a battery for them at the flea market.

well, I got decent vapor, but no throat hit whatsoever! I pulled and pulled and...nothing. The next day I asked him about it and he told me that the black one he gave me didn't work as well as the others(he got the other from a different website.) We actually looked up the differences in the two and found out the one I was using was an imposter joye! Dang.

I said, "Lemme try one of your other ones."

He handed me one of the other atomizers he had.

I screwed it on, hit the button and pulled...

and HOLY .... MY THROAT!

That thing hit like crazy! I could barely take it in and barely get vapor because of the throat hit. Had to give it back to him, though.

'What the hell' I decided. I might as well get a whole starter kit to have for my fiancee when she gets here. So I got that vapor4life kit with the disposable attys.

I'm assuming they'll give me a good throat hit...better than this setup I have now :p

I only vape 0 nic... I may be an oddball. I smoked for over 10 years and tried nic gum and patches on and off for the past 2 years to quit, but vaping is the only thing that helped me quit. 0 nicotine ecigs were way more effective for me than all that nicotine replacement crap.

Thats great! I think many of us would like to go down to 0 nic only. I personally have made a few juices with 0 simply because I didn't have nic available... but will say it has helped me reduce my overall nic consumption as a result. However, I still find I need the nic at this stage so alternating will have to do.

I think you did a great job of researching and your selection. I hope all goes well with getting the GF to vape with you. Might want to give her some with a good amount of Nic though. You said she's around a pack a day so in an effort to get her hooked with ya ;) she's probably going to need a bit. My wife wasn't a big smoker (more social as well)but she needed some to start, now she's talking about dropping it altogether (0mg). I was the bad smoker so I'm not at that point yet and I've lowered it except for that point where I have a craving. that's when I use my 24mg to curb the need. Just something to keep in mind as we are all different and effects may vary. Anyway Best of Luck!

Lots of us start out with a mini and graduate to a larger format. The Ego, Volcano, and its counterparts are popular with most.

Ego gives you 6 to 8 hours battery life and if you buy the Ega Mega atomizer you get hours of vaping from one cart fill. I have the Ego Mega cone atty and the cylinder atty. The cylinder atty seems to give me more reliable juice feed and trouble free operation. The cart will easily hold 45 to 50 drops of liquid as opposed to a 510 holding 10-12 drops. Some people pack it with 60 drops, which is most of a 3ml bottle. Two carts and one battery will very likely get you through a day at work. The charger is also AC and USB compatible, so you can recharge from a computer at work or carry a spare charger for overtime days.

Even having the Ego doesn't keep me from using my 510. The 510 is nice when you are riding the lawn mower or just want a pocket sized fit with your Ecig and long vape times aren't that important. Throat hit and taste are significantly greater with the larger atomizer of the Ego, but the 510 and mini models are nice once you find the juices that work well with the smaller atty.

Excellent choices, all of them. I started a couple of weeks ago with the KR8 and after doing some more reading, I think I will be upgrading to a Riva/Ego in the upcoming months. I'm still plan on using the KR8 as well. Great juice choices as well. Wyatt Earp is one of my favorites. It's my all day vape for now. I have some Backwoods Brew on the way so we'll see if that changes soon.

Good choice. As others mentioned the VK is a KR8 model (which is not compatible with 510 without an adapter). V4L is good and there are lots of other vendors that carry KR8 cartomizers. I swear by them. And if you grow tired of the regular batteries you can easily upgrade to an Elegant/Defender/Riva 901 fatty type battery or some Ego kind with an adapter.

And check out the KR8 subforum. Lots of good info on what you bought.

Thanks for the info, guys! :)

After a little while, I'm going to try some other vendors like ms. t's, backwoods brew, johnson's creek and vaporbomb for some more juices. and of course get more from freedomsmokeusa(the owner of that place has been VERY helpful!)

I'm guessing those ones I mentioned are pretty good?

What are some good flavors you would recommend from those? Also some other good vendors and flavors?

I love V4L batteries - they have the custom long cutoff (10-13 seconds instead of 5 seconds) so you can take long drags. I do recommend you get a spare manual battery, especially if you bought auto batteries. Manuals make it much easier to get a good hit (just press the button in early, 1-2 second before you start your drag) and they are harder to damage or kill with juice leaks.

Keep those cartos damp to avoid singeing them and adding a bitter taste. Carry a tissue, and always take the carto off the battery when adding juice. I use a simple plastic or delrin drip tip instead of the end cap - easier to remove to look at the stuffing or add juice. I use Vapor4Life WOW juices and other juices that are PG with 20% or less VG. And i avoid juices that drop a lot of flavoring sediment (clogs cartos, gunks up coil, ruins drag and shortens life of carto). I can get about 7 days of use out of one carto. I recommend you also try the cartos from SmokelessImage or Bloogplanet and Halocigs G6 may have the same bottom coil type.
