Bill proposed in Oregon would make cigarettes prescription-only - KPTV - FOX 12

Rep. Mitch Greenlick, from Portland, is sponsoring a bill that makes cigarettes a Schedule III controlled substance, meaning it would be illegal to possess or distribute cigarettes without a doctor's prescription.

Under the proposal, offenders would face maximum punishments of one year in prison, a $6,250 fine or both.

Other drugs and substances that are considered Schedule III controlled substances are ketamine, lysergic acid and anabolic steroids.

Completely. That proposed bill makes no sense at all...alcohol kills tons of people each year for varying reasons & it's not a "prescription substance". Look what happened during prohibition...we created a monster by trying to outlaw something that people enjoy & should have the right to choose. Making nicotine an illegal substance will only create a market for more crime to breed in. Politicians...ugh...

I'm not sure any more it's about the result. IE....they aren't really worried about the people that get hurt. It's about control. They know better than we do.

I wish everyone would realize that and turn them all out next time they come searching for votes.

Put in a bunch of freshmen. At least they won't screw around the first few years. These career politicians are all corrupt beyond belief.
