my experince with them was at christmas 2008 in a mall in portland, i was dropping off some smoothleggs at a booth and these guy smelled me coming cuz i smoked alot after all i am a carny, and for a second i thought i was on the midway at some no name fair and it twenty years ago, they got in my face hard and fast, even let me try one. i knew my boss was getting some for a show in tenn. valley, it went south ( i was not there, the guy there did the same spiel as SE and it was folded by the fair board because of no proof of being NRT...) and when i asked the price he asked how much do spend on cigs blah blah blah, it was $150.00 then and i knew what my boss was going to pay $8.00 a kit ( dse 201, i belive) i said good luck and finished my work there, later my boss ask what the SE guy said i told him the price, he said he`ll do his for $75.00, when he got the kits he gave all the smokers one, said we`ll stay in yhe booth longer, my kit lasted a week before it stopped working, battery just would not hold a charge atty works on a mod, and u see what i use now.
i knew then that saying what he was saying would end in tears, because i almost got in trouble for a back support we sell, and knew you have to say things in the right way( lie )
so i am the lowest seller with him because i tell it all and dont have as many sales, so these kids at SE booth are just seeing what they think is easy money, programed by the owner of the booth to make me money and you make money...

I think more than anything, the reason is.....drum roll please.....

Politics and Money.

Does the FDA approve things that just make you say "what the ....?!?"...I personally believe it's because the company paid enough money to do so.

Again, I think all e-cig companies should stay away from the "they're much much safer" marketing...instead direct people to a forum (ECF of course) and let people read about them here. But that would mean the stickies would have to be revamped...

I believe there were some issues regarding the "quality" of the NZ study. That, and the FDA isn't going to allow a study done by anyone outside the US - IMO. There will be problems, questions, and the study will be picked apart before its simply declared "not good enough."

Point blank - whatever is driving the FDA (and I'm not going to delve into conspiricy theory here) it comes down to: We don't like 'em - and we're not going to approve 'em.

Yup. Ruyan, if I'm not mistaken

That's what I thought. Unfortunately, that makes the study suspect. The tobacco companies used to pump millions into studies showing that cigarettes are safe. They've since abandoned that tactic because peer reviews didn't back up their results.

Bottom line: we need more research. I wonder if any colleges are working on these things? If I were a graduate student, it seems like e-cigarettes would be a great line of thesis research.

The ALA (American Lung Association) is having e-cigs studied at the VCU (university of Virginia). Which is in my view a real weird combination: ALA is for banning e-cigs (and is funded a lot by pharma; perhaps also by the tobacco-fund? don't know the last one) - and VCU has a bad rep of being in the pocket of Philip Morris. Who also wants the e-cig outed. Up to you to make out the story here... and what to expect of that study...
