They're worried about these things because they see an opportunity to tap into a revenue source that is storming the public. They play this "we're going to ban it" game until we all run the dog and pony show to change their minds then they come out like heroes or like we won and say "ok, we've been beaten, we'll approve and allow this product but for the sake of research and oversight, we're going to tax the sh** out of it now. Oh, and you can only
buy from these vendors ( you know, the ones with DC lobbyists) Welcome to 2010, year of the E-Cig Revenue Revolution.
Oh, and I can write a health book on anything I want to without any credentials or valid proof of anything. Perfectly legal.
Meanwhile 13 year olds are shooting people and 9 year olds are smoking pot and doing drugs with their parents.
Nice to see our regulations (which I'm an inspector for) have priorities.
Now, on the other hand, if the company says THEY ARE HEALTHY FOR YOU. They better damn well show me the money. I get that. Do I disagree with GOV regulation to protect the public from it's dumb mass self? No. I just disagree with politicians standing up on national television and saying "this product has the potential to be dangerous so it should be banned" I have the potential to be dangerous too....come ban me. Then you can go ahead and ban every other known item in the universe, because EVERYTHING has the potential to be dangerous when used to that end. Love you guys. Sorry for the rant.
I'm pretty new to vapin, but not new to FDA rules. If a candy company makes a claim that the candy will grow hair on my head...well...they need to prove it per US law. If a candy company makes candy (using safe & legal ingredients) which they sell for people to enjoy...its perfectly legal. You simply can not claim something has a health benefit without providing it via an FDA trial, probably just 2 phases since inhalers would likely be a FDA class 2 device.
Think of it this way, if a cigarette company claimed that it had a health benefit, what do you think the FDA would do? It would stop that dead in its tracks...since there is no scientific data to prove that claim. The FDA HAS to protect consumers, that is the purpose of that organization.
In looking at tons of webstores (when looking for a PV & Juice since I'm a newb) I see claim after claim about how PV's are "safer" than this, or "better for you" than that. Those are all claims and those claims need to be proven if stated (FDA trial). Stores should just say: This device is not proven to be safe. It vaporizes nicotine and delivers it to your lungs. Use with caution.
Just a thought!
