Homeish now
Find the poll at the end of the article interesting...

"Do you agree with the decision to ban electronic cigarettes in Oregon?"
Yes 51% (952 votes)
No 49% (903 votes)

While I'm sure Some of those 903 No votes were vapers......I really doubt they all are.
We might have some public backing we are unaware of.

They're worried about these things because they see an opportunity to tap into a revenue source that is storming the public. They play this "we're going to ban it" game until we all run the dog and pony show to change their minds then they come out like heroes or like we won and say "ok, we've been beaten, we'll approve and allow this product but for the sake of research and oversight, we're going to tax the sh** out of it now. Oh, and you can only buy from these vendors ( you know, the ones with DC lobbyists) Welcome to 2010, year of the E-Cig Revenue Revolution.

Oh, and I can write a health book on anything I want to without any credentials or valid proof of anything. Perfectly legal.

Meanwhile 13 year olds are shooting people and 9 year olds are smoking pot and doing drugs with their parents.
Nice to see our regulations (which I'm an inspector for) have priorities.

Now, on the other hand, if the company says THEY ARE HEALTHY FOR YOU. They better damn well show me the money. I get that. Do I disagree with GOV regulation to protect the public from it's dumb mass self? No. I just disagree with politicians standing up on national television and saying "this product has the potential to be dangerous so it should be banned" I have the potential to be dangerous too....come ban me. Then you can go ahead and ban every other known item in the universe, because EVERYTHING has the potential to be dangerous when used to that end. Love you guys. Sorry for the rant.

I'm pretty new to vapin, but not new to FDA rules. If a candy company makes a claim that the candy will grow hair on my head...well...they need to prove it per US law. If a candy company makes candy (using safe & legal ingredients) which they sell for people to enjoy...its perfectly legal. You simply can not claim something has a health benefit without providing it via an FDA trial, probably just 2 phases since inhalers would likely be a FDA class 2 device.

Think of it this way, if a cigarette company claimed that it had a health benefit, what do you think the FDA would do? It would stop that dead in its tracks...since there is no scientific data to prove that claim. The FDA HAS to protect consumers, that is the purpose of that organization.

In looking at tons of webstores (when looking for a PV & Juice since I'm a newb) I see claim after claim about how PV's are "safer" than this, or "better for you" than that. Those are all claims and those claims need to be proven if stated (FDA trial). Stores should just say: This device is not proven to be safe. It vaporizes nicotine and delivers it to your lungs. Use with caution.

Just a thought!

let em bash away even though only on my second day. I can already tell some differences for the better. And Rant away Sardonic, I feel the same way. It can't be allowed if they cant tax the P&*^ out of it which in my world is a bunch of bull.. Sort of the same way that eating healthy costs 3 times as much as eating fast food and garbage.

As former US Chief Justice John Marshall said, "the power to tax is the power to destroy."

So far everyone I have met while vaping that is a NON smoker was interested in learning about it. When I tell them the truth, which is not the whole "its the safest greatest thing ever" line they seem very accepting.

My speech kind of goes like this. It uses these chemicals in a cart that is vaporized and breathed in the same fashion as a cigarette. I don't know the long term effects of the chemicals being used but I can tell you that I feel 100% better than I did smoking. The fact that the bottle lists at most 3-7 ingredients and cigarettes contain 4000+ non of which are listed, makes me feel comfortable saying its safer.

The kid argument is just plain silly. Anyone know any kids with $80-100 to spend on an e-cig? Anyone know any kids who, if he had that kind of cash, would actually spend it on an e-cig instead of buying cigarettes at the local 7-11 where his buddy works?

Couldn't possibly have anything to do with e-cig sales cutting into their $1.18/pack tax; could it?

I love how are government cares so much about are health and safety that they let BIG TOBACCO Murder millions of us a year. They let us drink caffeine and beer. They pass out .... at the .... clinic. They let millions of illegal immigrants cross the border and take are jobs. The let are kids have toys from china with lead paint in them. We can use tooth paste with antifreeze. We can do all this but we cant smoke a ECIG because it might appeal to kids. Well guns might appeal to kids lets ban guns. Sex might appeal to kids lets ban sex. Gay lifestyle might appeal to kids lets ban being gay. WTF. And let me not mention the 10 thousand fn drug commercial adds that list 1 of there thousand side affects as death.

My daughter is five but were she sixteen and wanted to smoke, I would order her a zero nicotine kit in a heartbeat! They don't want to smoke for any reason other than to be cool.

What is wrong with these idiots? Can't they see that side of the coin? Kids who want to smoke are going to and that is the bottom line. Why can't they see there's is a safe way for kids to 'be cool'? Aren't they passing out condoms in school?

Well imo if I owned a multi billion dollar biz. I would give the FDA and Politicians a few mil to keep me in business. Some Politics is just that. As I write this I relize maybe were just not seeing the big pic. If Vaping becomes a world wide epidemic and millions quit smoking hundreds of thousands of peeps will be under if not un employed. Not just the BTC but a large number of Health agencys thousands of Doctors hospitals and the like will have nothing to do. And wasted thier entire life getting an education for combating the Tobacco abuse in the world. It would practicly be a cure for stuff like COPD, Lung Cancer and such. Shame on us wanting a better and healthier lifestyle for ourselves and our Children. OMG were so evil......:vapor:

Cheers and Happy Vaping,

sharp stabbing pain in the heart could be related to pneumothorax (lung collapapse) In small cases it heals on it's own...however I did once have to have a chest tube for spontaneous pneumothorax...my lung had collapsed about 15 percent (to be quite honest...it was after i hit a chong .... and coughed for about 30 minutes straight) i went home shortly after not in pain yet...and about 30 minutes after i got home i went to the bathroom and my chest started hurting...my left shoulder started to emit a dull ache.. I was 23 years old and thinking I was having a heart attack... breathing became difficult as every breathe was a sharp pain.. i went to the ER and EKG was showing no heart murmers or anything indicating a heart problem..they almost sent me home after looking at x-rays.. then i hear a "bloop bloop bloop" coming from my chest...and i could even feel the airbubbles. I had a nurse put her hand on my chest while it was doing this and they looked at the x-rays again and rushed me to the down town hospital...and began stuffing the tube thru my ribcage while i was still awake...half way into it (and much cussing from me in the process) one of the residents told them to stop..injected something into an IV in my arm and I don't remember anything until i woke up in a hospital bed. I had to have that tube in my chest for a week.

Moral of the story? Don't take chest pain lightly.
