I got the magma recently, but I don't care about flavor as I vape flavorless. The airflow is not up to par and the 3mm air hole on the outside is a lie because the hole on the deck isn't 3mm.

Consequently, I would love to drill it out somehow, but doing so on the deck seems almost impossible. Do you think it would be prudent to drill holes on the side of the cap? Similar to how a normal rda would be.

The other question would be regarding the origen. Is it drillable? To sizes of 3mm or more?

Thanks in advance.

You sure could drill holes in the side of the cap but I can't possibly see why you would. The whole charm of the Magma is the under-coil airflow and the large drip well, without the unique airflow system, it's just your standard 3-post atty with a deep well. There are LOTS of 3-post atties with side air holes out there; many of them MUCH cheaper than the Magma. My advice is to sell your Magma and get one of them.

Then again, maybe you'll create the best rda ever frankensteined into existence by drilling the side air holes...

If you DO drill it out, let me know how it works.

If you want to get equal airflow to the 3mm inlet on magma, I think you'd have to pretty much make another hole in front of the stock outlet.. you may be able to get it a little larger, but there's not 3mm of space where airflow is. It looks like it'd be real easy to drill into well with just enlarging hole.

Origen would be easy to drill out... however, I currently have a quad build in mine, and I have the afc ring removed..I got a v1 yeahsmo clone, so I have 4 sets of holes instead of 3..so I have 4- 1, 1.5, & 2mm holes going...talk about a loose draw.:)

I'm not aware of any 3 post atty that has wells like the magma does. Is there one I could get?

I'm not quite understanding the logic in buying an atomizer known for amazing flavour and not amazing airflow when you don't care about flavour and want airflow.

"Not amazing airflow" is subjective. When I read that it was 3 mm I knew that 3mm would be perfect, if not too much. However, due to the fact that this is false, and it's really 2mm (if that) - bleh. None of the reviewers I saw previously mentioned this MAJOR flaw. Perhaps the hype got to me :(

From that site:

"External airflow selection (1mm, 2mm, 3mm), options for single or dual airhole - for ease of use"

To me, that means two 3mm, but even if not - the max, in combination, wouldn't be 3mm anyways because the largest airhole is about 2.5.

Also, on 101 vape:

Two nicely bored out posts that direct the coil right over the bottom feeding air flow channels. The AFC (Air Flow Control) ring has everything from dual 1mm up to dual 3mm are available to suit a variety of tastes. There is a deep juice well so you have a bit of reserve juice for those times you can't drip.

use a diamond bit that is roughly the same diameter as the vertical holes, inserted and start shaving

something like this

Ya.. that one seems to be a misquote.. Its definitely not 2 3mm's.. The side holes are about 2.5mm, but the exits under the coils are about 1.5mm

Not to sound like an ... but am still unsure what you picked the Magma up for. The Magma is known for it's amazing flavor characteristics. I do understand the idea you like the large juice well but seems as though there is something else out there more suited to what you're after. I just recently picked up the Magma and I just fell in love with the thing. But then again I'm a flavor junkie and that is what this atomizer is known for. The reduced chamber size mixed with the air flow below the coil produce better flavor than any other atomizer that I own or have tried to date. And when I place it on the larger air flow settings it's like breathing through a snorkel. But I'm not at all into the whole cloud chasing thing so maybe even that isn't enough air flow. I just feel like you are using the wrong atomizer for the application.

But if I absolutely had to mod this device I would do exactly like vapero photo shopped for your, that is the only option I see working.

See, and that makes me pretty angry that such a hyped up atomizer with such rave reviews has a stupid feature like that! The second largest and largest airflow holes on the ring have no discernable difference in airflow!

Regardless, I am now in the process of drilling out the deck. I will post my results, but it's probably going to take a while.

If the airflow descriptions were accurate then I wouldn't have any problems - 3mm would have been plenty of air and all the reviews I saw didn't mention anything about this.

But what other atty would fit my liking?

Check out:

Tugboat
Origen
Yaeliq
Veritas
3D

All are verified to hold 2+ mL of liquid; not as much as the Magma, but kind of a lot for an RDA. The 3D holds a bunch and is a funky auto-dripper that may work out for you.
