Received a fasttech order today which included an Origin mod clone.

As it came out of the box, I could not get it to fire. If I adjusted the switch throw/contact to the point it would actually make contact with the battery, it was so wonky there's no way I'd be happy with it. To me, it seemed it was missing a contact. So I checked the photos on FT's website and what is pictured is exactly what I received. No extra contact pictured.

https://www.fasttech.com/products/1547400

The adjustable center pin of the switch has a threaded section inside that looks like a contact could be threaded into it....like a Chi You contact. So I took a Chi You contact out of one of my AIOS clones and it threaded and fit perfectly.

I tightened everything back down and now it fires perfectly.

I'm fairly adept at figuring out these things and adjusting them, but I find it slightly odd that none of the reviews on FT mention a similar issue.

So was I shorted a contact? Or am I missing something in the adjustment procedure? At this point, I'm going to open a ticket with FT to see if they'll ship a contact for it.

Ok...so I'm not crazy. Mine is missing the brass battery contact for the switch. Apparently, a known issue on the FT forum.

Will open a ticket with them when they get back from the holiday. Even though the process takes forever, I've been very satisfied with their customer service in the past, so I'm sure they'll make it right.

On a positive note, the rest of the mod is great. A little sanding on the delrin adjuster and everything will be flush and pretty.

I received the exact same FT Origin about 3 weeks ago and mine did have the pin.
Pin missing in pic but pin not missing in my origin.

Ft Origin is a beauty but switch design not as good as fatter nemesis.
FT Origin switch post is loosey goosey which may disturb the OCD.
FT Origin is 0.5 ohm cloud machine capable.
Have yet to do voltage drop test.

Somewhat related, the center pin on my switch somehow got raised to where the Origin was auto-firing without my turning the gold part on the bottom of the switch. I'm not sure exactly how it happened, I just know I was walking, vaping, and had my headphones on and everything seemed fine. Then I locked it and threw it in my pocket and was alerted later by heat in my pocket, and the Origin was auto-firing. Not sure how exactly it happened, I haven't been able to repeat it with the switch taken off and just turning some of the rings, but it was disconcerting and making me think twice about using the Origin where I can't carefully monitor and be aware of what its doing, ie when I'm out.

Yeah I'm just trying to figure out how the brass part of the switch got raised without my consciously doing it. I think sometimes when I press the switch with my middle finger my fingertip is sitting on that brass part and maybe it got turned doing that somehow. It's disconcerting, though, because I don't feel safe bringing it out with me anymore.

emus, do you have any recommendation on what I might do to lock that brass part of the switch?

I rely on mechanical torque to hold everything in position; same principle as engine bolts. I need one shim between batt and delrin for some batts. I have all other switch components stock and torqued tight. If you desire looser setting then see if you can install shim or o-ring so fastener torques against something.

If no joy w/ torque method you could try crxess locktite method.

...or both if you are prone to overkill.

Aqua switch design is fine once tweaked. My SS FT aqua clone complaint is sloppy loose switch button. I think they wanted to be darn sure switch doesn't bind (I could fix that w/ sand paper).
The Aqua is awesome, I wish it held a little more juice , but it works great.
I think you meant Origen. Aqua is the atomizer.

The switch is designed so the spring rides over the vent holes and can catch.
When you spin the lock, the spring spins and catches.
This can cause the button to spin, and can change that inner brass mechanism, which can cause autofire.

Lots going on in that switch. Lots can go wrong in that switch.
