Maybe Obsolete - However I still have one to play the few VCR Tapes I have and haven't been able to convert to DVD's . . . The same can be said for a "Boom Box" w/Cassette/CD Player and Cassettes too (even have a cassette player in the car along with a cd player) . . . :facepalm:

Yes, they were manual... and no, I never had the pleasure of experiencing that smell... :p LOL!!
(we had a tape library of over 5,000 tapes, and when we got new ones in, I had to manually put the BOF/EOF markers on each one manually, too)

And speaking of manual, these are what I learned on in school... the good old 'unit record equipment'!!
Thank goodness we didn't have to actually do that on the job... :facepalm:

I never had to mess with the boards but we had a few laying around. Seen the IBM CE use them a couple times while trying to figure out a problem.

Dealt with these for awhile - 3270 controller, The interface between the mainframe and PC's that the adapter card installed.
