Harry Truman Met With The KKK

When Harry Truman returned home to Kansas after serving in World War I, he opened a haberdashery. The business quickly went belly-up, but the patronage of a powerful Democrat named Tom Pendergast helped to secure him an elected position as judge of the county court in Jackson County’s eastern district. In the interest of furthering Truman’s political career, local car dealer and KKK member Edgar Hinde encouraged him to consider joining the ..... He even offered to cover the $10 membership fee.

The Salary Grab Act was passed by the United States Congress on 3 March 1873. The effect of the Act was, the day before the second-term inauguration of President Ulysses S. Grant, to double the salary of the President (to $50,000) and the salaries of Supreme Court Justices. Hidden in the salary increases was also a 50% increase for members of Congress, retroactive to the beginning of their just-ending term. Public outcry led Congress to rescind the congressional salary increase

Jack Anderson was a hard-nosed reporter who excelled in exposing political corruption. He dogged Richard Nixon for decades and was responsible for exposing many unsavory things that went on during his political career. Nixon disliked and possibly feared Anderson, so he ordered the CIA to follow him and his family. Operatives discussed ways of getting rid of Anderson. They considered poisoning his aspirin bottle or putting ... on his steering wheel to cause hallucinations and hopefully a fatal crash. It was presumed that Nixon knew about the plan, and possibly even gave the order, since it would be out of the ordinary for his henchmen to take such a step without his knowledge and approval. The plan never ended up happening because the two who were to carry it out, G. Gordon Liddy and Howard Hunt, were called on to break into the Watergate Hotel, which ended with their arrest and worse problems for Nixon to worry about.

Franklin D. Roosevelt Made A Poop Joke On NBC

A few White House correspondents formed a singing group. They were invited to appear on NBC. While they were on the program, Roosevelt called the show. He disguised his famous voice and told the host he wanted to offer the men a contract.

When asked who he worked for, the president responded, “I’m the advertising manager for the Cascarets,” which was a famous laxative.

At the next press meeting, the president revealed his joke by telling all of the other media personnel that the correspondents would need to resign, because they had a job singing on the “Cascaret Hour.”

John F. “Jack” Kennedy most likely had the most active extramarital sex life of any president. He allegedly slept with Marilyn Monroe, Jayne Mansfield, Audrey Hepburn, Angie Dickinson, stripper Blaze Starr, Marlene Dietrich, and many other women including White House staffers, secretaries, stewardess, campaign workers, strippers, and acquaintances of trusted male friends. The FBI taped sounds of him and Inga Arvad making love

Just wanted to say - I decided not to play this week only for the simple reason that I wasn't going to mess around in anyone else's "Closet" looking for "Skeletons", especially since I got enough of "My" own . . . AND - More importantly, I have been out of the "Closet" for way to long to go back in (that is if I ever really was in the closet to begin with ;) ) . . . Just Sayin' . . .

During US President Warren Harding’s time in office back in 1922 Interior Secretary Albert B. Fall accepted a bribe of over $404,000 from Mammoth Oil and Pan America Petroleum to to get the leasing rights to the oil reserves at Teapot Dome in Wyoming. Unfortunately for Fall, the press caught wind and he was exposed. Prior to Watergate this was considered “greatest and most sensational scandal in the history of American politics”.

The Profumo Affair was a 1963 British political scandal named after John Profumo, Secretary of State for War. His affair with Christine Keeler, the reputed mistress of an alleged Soviet spy, followed by his lying in the House of Commons when he was questioned about it, forced the resignation of Profumo and damaged the reputation of Prime Minister Harold Macmillan’s government. Macmillan himself resigned a few months later because of ill health.
