I'm not sure about an exact / direct comparison but "igetcha69" on youtube will be doing a review of the orion V2 soon I hear. I can't wait to see it. The one big difference between this and the zen is this does not have an insulator tube (ptfe) to aid in preventing the wick to short to the body of the device. I oxidize my wick like crazy but i have had shorting issues a few times. I plan on modding my hole with ptfe to prevent this in the future.

I am considering a mini. Differences I have noted;
Top cap is adjustable for air flow over coils. Fitted w/o-ring, not threaded.
No built in tip, a plus to me as I enjoy my teeth :p
Air inlet is larger, more air to coil.
Larger tank.
Glass tank.
Terminal connections look simpler to deal with.
Mechanical switch, adjustable.

Hope that helps. Both are very nice.

Looks like you are thinking pretty hard there ;) I have a Z-Atty in my sights because I cannot stand the bottom button mods. The glass tank is a plus and a minus as quite a few folks have broke theirs already. I enlarged my air hole on the Orion because I was not impressed with the vapor production and THEN had to re-mod it again because I there was too much air. I made an adjustable draw inside my cap. Did you see the pictures?? I thought for sure I was not going to like the built in tip on the Orion for the same reason but I usually use the alum tips anyway and have just been real careful, I like mine too.:)

If you get one before I get the Z-Atty let me know what you think.

Yep, thinking hard. I prefer a mechanical mod and love my original Orion. Not sure how few of those are around because so many retrofitted w/Pailpoe switch. I doubt i will ever let that one go! :) Reports of a few switches failing or needing service has me nervous. I'm also not chasing his VW switch. Don't really see the need as I change batts as soon as I detect the drop.

So yes, distinct possibility I will be trying for a mini.

Reports huh? Awl man. I've heard that yet. I know some folks may be heating up the center post (+ terminal) to hot during burn in. I'm so ..../cautious that I have on many occasions had a piece of ice handy to cool off the terminal quickly so the "insides" don't cook...lol

Yeah, one reported dead switch, another came in w/ instructions to tear down and re-solder 5 contact points. Last one modded to bottom button because his board died. All think they overheated from dry burns to clean or from bedding in coils. Read about it on UKV & VW.

I've dry burned without issues but I'm not sitting on the button more than 5 seconds a shot. YMMV.

You ever bry burn yours till ALL the coils turn red? Mine never all turn red. They will all heat up, and not be shorting (unless I burn it to long then I'm just asking for a short) but they never all turn red. Figured it worth asking you as you and I seen to be the only Orion lovers on here.

Oh, and one other thing I'm ashamed to admit. I have an electronics degree (long time ago mind you) but I work with boards/electronics every day with my job. Remember that I was getting a higher ohm than I thought I should be? I think that was this thread?? Anyway, I ohmed out my meter leads and had 1.5ohm's in the leads themselves. So needless to say, I stuck on another set and my atty ohms out at 2.0. Right where I would want it anyway :)

Eventually they all glow. Those at the top terminal start first. I just keep at it till the bottom ones get red. All the while blowing and pulsing of course. It doesnt take long if I dont allow too much build up. My carbon build up is worse at the top too. I imagine there is something to that. I dry burn every 1-2 days dependent on volume and type of juice I'm running.

 yep have to subtract lead resistance. :) Glad you've got it where you want it.
