When you say "departed" are you saying that he is now playing for the angels?
He is truly very talented. Can you imagine this guy with a steel guitar?!?!?

Roy departed in the late 1980's as I recall. He died a true bluesman's death. He hung himself in a jail cell with his shirt. I had seen Roy about two months earlier in a local venue. He happened to walk in the front door as the same time I did. We spoke a briefly as we walked throuh to find a seat.

I credit Nation Public Radio with doing really great obituaries. I recall the beginning notes of The Messiah Will Come Again as I was driving across town. While searching last night for him, I saw references to that obit, so it can be found with a little search.

Other great obits on NPR were the creator of the Scrabble and the inventor of Velcro.

For steel guitar, check out Robert Randolph and the Family Band. His background was in a church-based style called Sacred Steel.
