My wife's family is from there and had their lands stripped from them by Castro. They were the second largest sugar growing plantation on the island and came here with nothing. As much as they would love to see their homeland any money you spend their goes to the regime.

Honestly I am not trying to be a downer but it seems like the investment, although beautiful and fun would only be supporting a dictatorship that takes all of the people's money and gives nothing back to the people. Personally I have mentioned going there to my wife but hearing it from their point of view and understanding the economy, way of life, and justice there I now wish I would not have mentioned it.

Last but not least I do not typically deal in politics but this topic hits close to home.

Understand Sico, the narrater mentions that and the suffering of the people. It seems that the dictator has loosened up a bit, but like he said it's a beautiful country but no one can leave. Hope if things changed radically I would go, but you are right, tourist dollars go into the dictators pockets :(

Yea, again sorry if that came off odd, strong, wierd. I didnt intend for it to be that way. I just hope that someday that regime goes away.

I don't think you came off oddly at all.

And yes, we ALL hope that someday the Castro regime "goes away" -- never to return again. Cuba Libre!
