Just picked one up the other day as a backup for my Nitecore I4. Once I got it home and read the instruction booklet I was surprised to learn that it can double as a USB power supply as you said. With 4 2500mah Efest Purple batts, it becomes a 10A USB power source (4 x 2500mah). That's a nice feature on a trip.

Yeah basically bought a big power brick for $10. Planning on taking it camping to keep my phone charged. Convenient and helpful backup charger.

My old xtar WP2 has USB charging functionality as well, although I've never used it.

I went thru a Phase where I bought No-Name Flashlights on e-Bay.

You can pickup a XML T6 or U2 Zoomable Flashlight for Next to Nothing. But these El-Cheap-O Flashlights come with a Crummy Driver. No Memory, Flicker, Hum. So I would Buy 2A 5-Mode Memory Drivers and then do Flashlight Surgery to Upgrade them fo 6 Bucks or so.

Kinda had an Assembly Line going.

Then One Day, as I was about to Out Bid some Rookie on another Flashlight for $4.99, I looked across the room and asked... "Does a Person Really Need 11 Flashlights?"

LOL

I bought some of the cheap flashlights and they didn't last long. I did buy a 300lm drop-in for my SureFire 6p. After hurricane Irene and Sandy, I really go into lights and started buying quality brands that were much more reliable. I found smaller lights that use AA or CR123A batteries much more useful for everyday needs. I keep a 2xAA light in my truck (Olight T25) because AA's are easy to find anywhere. I tried a Fenix light but their QC wasn't very good so I returned it. Now I use Olight and EagleTacs mostly. My SureFires have 880lm drop ins now and I use them for camping mostly. I have a ThruNite Ti that uses a single AAA on my keychain that throws out 80lm.

My old XTAR WP2 has USB charging functionality as well, although I've never used it.

My old Xtar WP2 doesn't have a USB but it came with a car charger. I replaced it with a Nitecore D2 which is awesome.

I have Actually had pretty Good luck with the with the ones I have gotten.

I bought a Lot of these and gave them to Friends at Christmas.

Mini Travel 600 LM CREE 3 Mode LED Zoomable Flashlight Torch with Clip H5 | eBay

They are a Nice Light in that they can Take either a 14500 or a AA. Like you said, AA's can be Found Anywhere. And everyone seems to have Rechargeable AA's laying around for Remotes or what not.

But using a 14500 in them makes them about 3 Times as Bright. Maybe because a 14500 is 3 Times the Voltage of a AA? LOL

Once again, No Mode Memory. Which is Kinda Annoying. But Hey, for Less than what a Pack of Smokes used to Cost, what can you say?

Nice to have One On the Desk, in the Top Drawer of the Roll-a-Way, Glove Box, etc. And the Belt Clip is a Must.
