don't ask me how., but i got a hold of a Welch Allyn Otoscope. you know the thing that the doc uses to look in your ear with. anyway this think looks like it could become one high-class PV. this think did not not come with a battery though. any ideas as to what battery would be good for it. or that will fit it. the tube will house size C batteries. one is to small and two is just barely to big. if possible i would like to try something in the 5V variety.
if you think you can held me or have any questions. just let me know. i have all ready gotten it to where i just need to add the 510 connector. i just don't have any spare ones but i wanted to see if i could find a battery that would work before i went out and got a connector. here is a link of what it looks like. it is a welch allyn 71670.

Interesting container for a mod - I like the way it looks!
From what I can tell the only question you are asking is "What kind of battery do I need?" right?
First off - what are the exact interior dimensions? Diameter and legnth...
Secondly, are you going for a 3.7V mod, 7.4V or something in between?

correct, i am just looking for a battery. the stock one will not work though. the insides of this thing is fries. and i will have to rewire a switch into it. however i don't know what battery to buy. i have taken all the excess parts out and i can get 2 size c batteries in there. i am looking for i would like to try and make this thing 5v. i have not tried 5v but i am vaping on a LR atty now and think i would like to make the upgrade.

One would think that a battery that size would have an outrageous mAh but in this case,,, The replacement is only a 3.5 volt 800 mAh rechargeable are $47.55,,, 9 bucks for non-rechargeable

stock is out. this thing didn't work when i got it. i am mostly just using the case to build my mod.

GREAT IDEA! Unscrew the very top of it (only the top inch or so) and look what you find. It's an AC charger built right in. The top inch part is where you need to do all of your work. Are you sure that the unit isn't working? The batteries in them are terrible, so if you find a set that fit as is, PLEASE let me know. I briefly looked for some Li-ion substitutes to no avail.

thanks for the replys. i haven't looked it to this for a while because i didn't have a battery connector. well my 510 connectors came in today from madvapes. and it is a perfect fit. looks like i could solder the connector into place because from the lookes of it it uses the handle as Negative. then all i have to worry about is soldering a wire to the Possessive and getting a switch (I am a genesis and forgot to order one when i ordered the connectors; well there is always radio shack) and fitting a battery in there. i took a couple pics with my phone with the connector in place and hooked up to an atty so i could have an idea of how it would look. I will try and post then a little later. so, back to the OP i am still in need of a battery. and if i can would like to get at or about 5V. will two 18650's give me 5V or 7.4V. if it is the latter, would i need to get high resistance attys for this or would a regular atty be okay. right now i am vaping 3.7 with a LR atty.so i don't know if i want to jump straight to 7.4V. i am also working on a PT that should be at 5V. so i guess i could vape that to prepare myself for 7.4.

i am having a heck of a time trying to solder this wire to part of the top. that probably because it is stainless steel. the way this is going to work is that the whole handles is negative. that is how it was originally designed. my thoughts were that i could just solder the connector into place, thus completing the circuit. problem with that is solder doesn't stick to well to stainless steel. i might be able to use something like this though;

Silver Conductive Epoxy

however i was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with conductive epoxy.

It will give you 7.4V. You should be fine with the standard atty, but I wouldn't chance it with a LR. You could go with a 5V reg wired in the top part. I'd like to see some pictures of the thing. It's probably be a PV that could survive a nuclear war...
No it won't. Not even close.

7.4V. if it is the latter, would i need to get high resistance attys f
Most definitely.
